How does the photographer know your "Close personal friends"? Why are you bringing all your crazy close personal friends to a photoshoot? Why are you being a "player" instead of being a model?

"My" implies ownership VS "I work with" implies a collaborative economic effort What you are saying is you have a person that designs and creates clothes for every shoot and you have them on retainer and pay them enough income that you are their only client... I think what you might mean is that you have a friend who dresses you up for shoots.

You're just talking about playing a photographer when you should be getting dressed and going home. He's not the only photographer that will use you, is he? Why do you have to "play" him. Send him packing with his Kodamatic and find someone else.

I'll explain better this time... 1. yes... she's a friend 2. she designs, and sews garments for most of what I do. before I met her, she already had about 400 original pieces made. So, I loved her collection so much that when I would do an event she would provide the wardrobe for me. I've never paid her. But, I have an agreement with her to promote her line (non-exclusively) and help get her paid work. So far in the 5 years I've been doing this she's gotten a lot of paid jobs from people that saw her designs on my body and wanted to hire her for a job. 3. There's no ownership here. I just say "my" loosely. She's of course free to work with anyone she wants. Is that clear enough?

Do photographers hit on models? Do male bosses hit on their secretaries? Do guys hit on girls in the street and the supermarket? It's a part of life. Learn to deal with it or quit modelling.... and then quit being a female too. Just my $0.02 Ciao Stefano

Ok, so it's horrible for a photographer to proposition a model. But what if a model propositions a photographer? I mean, I get that on a weekly basis.... I think I'm going to start making rant threads.

Rozetta Marie wrote: Exactly. I totally agree. But that's just a red flag that they have other motives anyway. I won't speak for other photographers; just for myself. In this regard I usually ask to speak to a model before I work with them, especially if I have never worked with them before. I do this to iron out shoot details and to set expectations on both sides before either of us step into the studio. Over the years I've found that some models who aren't willing to at least make or accept a phone call to confirm or iron out details of a shoot *usually* aren't serious and flake the day of the shoot. That's not always true, but in my case, out of 10 models I've booked without having talked to them on the phone prior, 8 of them have flaked. Other red flags: - They insist on emails only. - They tlk n txt & u need a cypr rng 2 dcode wht thyr sayn. - They don't check up with references when you freely give them the references. - They make ridiculous demands, including bringing their sluggo boyfriend with them. - They don't bother reading profiles and think you're going to do only what they want. I'm generalizing here, but in my experience this is usually true. Thankfully they're in the minority though, and the number of great models on here outnumber the troublemakers. As for your OP. Just like how not all models are like how I described above, not all of us photographers are like what you described either. Again, speaking only for myself here, I joke around a lot during a shoot but I never cross the line into the personal territory. Hell, once I had a female client *literally* get pissed off at me for not taking her up on her advances too. Only suggestion I can give you is to check references.

How does anyone have the time to read 3 pages. I'll never understand it. Anyway. I have met a lot of photographers and a lot of models and had a lot of very brutally honest conversations. My conclusion is that when you put enough men and women in a room together...professional or not. People will start fucking. Anyone who says differently is selling something. Men are as faithful as their options. The End.

Well... according to most of my female friends they get approached by these things all the time and they are not models/subjects. So I think it's pretty common and natural that it happens. As friends, strangers, business associates, cube-mates, and such.

I'm not saying that asking politely is a bad thing - we models have the gift of speech too and can say 'yes' or 'no'.

Lol babe it come with the territory... 9 photographers that i have worked with have come on to me. One guy was married and he tried things and said things to me in a sexual manner. Whats sad is his wife was in the same building at the time. I get messeges from photographers, and other models that hit me up trying to see if they can get me naked. But you must remember a photographer is human first. But sometimes some people go too far. I have experienced photographers who cutt me off , canceled a shoot, and/or would not give me my images because i wouldnt sleep with him. You got to be aware that some of these guys pick up a camera for the wrong reasons. No i am not bashing photographers....only the pervert unprofessional ones. Maybe the vibe was "let's get it on" but mostly it sounds like your photographer was being nice, though perhaps in an "I'd like to get to know you better" kinda of way. There are plenty of models who enjoy being the center of attention and flirt and emote and act brazenly and wantonly sexual, and it is hardly surprising that occasionally signals get crossed. One of the previous posters mentioned that it is not infrequent that photographers and models do hook up, so certainly at least some of the time there is an actual attraction. I would say that there are likely as many "head case" models as there are GWACs who are just looking to score with cute models. There are valid concerns on both sides of this equation. To me, the answer is professionalism. I don't do sessions at all with just as model and myself; I always have an assistant present, whether or not she brings an escort. And sometimes we do go out and grab a bite and/or drinks with a model after the session. It's a comfort level thing, plus the dictates of our schedule.
