There is nothing wrong with belonging to OneModelPlace.com AND ModelMayhem.com.  Although some people here have complaints about OMP, there are still many more members who either don't care or even are happy members of both OMP and MM, like myself.

All those who are OMP bashing here are wasting their time (accept if venting on public forums helps you!)  The website administration here (at ModelMayhem) does not have the ability to remedy problems with another site. The OneModelPlace website does have a Terms and Conditions of membership that if anyone has a problem with the site, they can check to see if they are in violation. Otherwise anyone who does not wish to be a member of OMP can just not pay for a membership!  It's that simple!

I have been a member of OMP since early 2001, and I continue to stay a member because I have photographed dozens of models from being listed on OMP. Also I have made some excellent networking connections from the website.  OneModelPlace.com is still the largest model/photographer community online!

So far I have seen many models I would like to work with here, but have yet to work with a model who is listed only on ModelMayhem.  Many are on both websites!  This is a great new website, and I hope that ModelMayhem does well.  There is plenty of room for both websites. Now once MM gets as established as OMP, and then starts charging ... we shall see if the same people who complain about OMP are also complaining about MM.

I enjoy life since I am happy to be in an industry that allows me much creative freedom.  I am a happy member of many websites!  Enjoy life!  One is all you're going to get!  (Unless you are a cat!)

I feel all warm and fuzzy.

I for one am getting sick of those who repeatedly start threads to bitch about the same thing that no one here has any influence over.

Being on both sites is great. OMP has the large database of models and MM has open communication.

I feel I benefit on OMP cause i have a bigger portfolio and i feel I benefit on MM because models can read all my feedback from models ive already worked with.

its like being at two parties at the same time.

You certainly give evidence to being a satisfied member of each, but a review of what many wrote showed their dissatisfaction of policy change that reflected bad business practice, and less value and/or delivery in what had been sold.

I'm not so sure it boils down to seeking a change on anyone's part.  Whether that be how a site chooses to do business or for those making a choice in their investment.

Rather, it is a "coming together" to share information so others can make informed decisions.  I, for one, applaud MM's stance on this open communication that extends the virtue of "community" rather than moderating a single voice perspective.

Your choice works for you.  Cool.  For some, the same choice doesn't.  Cool.

Next topic...

People yell louder when they complain ... and many of those who are satisfied with both websites simply do not post on this forum.  I'm busy myself, but I fianlly decicided that enough is enough!

OneModelPlace has changed policy over the years a few times i their attempts to satisfy their members. It does not mean that it is "bad business practice, it just means that as any business gets larger, there will be complaints.  Can you name a single business that does not have complaints?  The funeral industry I hear has very few! (At least from those being buried!) LOL

When very few people are speaking up in defense of OMP, that does not mean that the majority here are all complaining. There are many more people joining OMP and staying than there are those leaving.

E-Bay has many more people joining and using Paypal, buying or selling from the auction site, etc. but there are those who have legit complaints with them. It is a huge company, and I'm not exactly "pro" E-Bay or OMP, I'm just using their service.

I was taught as a child that if something or someone makes you feel uncomfortable or unhappy, get out of the situation. Learn by the experience and move on.

Ashley... you've been taught well.  I was taught the you can learn and benefit from the mistakes and misfortunes of others, and that history repeats itself.

Also that your experience may not be the same as all others.

These are some testimonials from people on OMP;

"As a parent of a 14 year old, aspiring model, I have to commend the staff and everyone who we have come in contact with on OMP. Julianna and I have met some of the nicest people from the OMP site…agents, photographers and managers etc. Julianna joined OMP several months back with one picture. We never gave it too much thought after that. After we met some of the OMP staff in Panama City, we decided to go back to her portfolio and beef it up a little bit. The response she has received has been overwhelming to say the least. In a period of one month she received over 300 referrals! We have received emails and phone calls from all over the United States from modeling agencies, managers with offers, suggestions, advice, paying jobs and even an invite up to New York City by SVM, a newer agency who wants to work with Julianna. The doors that have opened for her are tremendous. Several of Julianna’s model friends are now on OMP and experiencing the same results. One Model Place is for REAL. I highly recommend this site to any model trying to make it in the industry. "

Bob Cervelli
Father of O•M•P Model Julianna #49254

"I wanted to thank you for yet ANOTHER job I've received through OMP. I worked a runway show yesterday for Fresh Produce Sportswear, and they found me through you. This is the 4th paid job I've received through OMP. I have never received work through any other
site...Yours is the only site I pay to be on, and it is well worth it."

Katharine
O•M•P Model #11060

"I have to thank One Model Place for the amazing exposure I have received since becoming a member. In less than 4 days my portfolio has been viewed over 15,000 times! OMP has exceeded my wildest expectations. I never expected that my portfolio would be viewed over 4,000 times every day.

I highly recommend that every model become a member of OMP. Not taking advantage of this opportunity really puts you at a disadvantage, because in the modeling industry exposure is everything. This is the wave of the future!

Thanks again One Model Place for your outstanding service."

Anna Christie
O•M•P Model #40826

"In today's world, finding a great deal is difficult, especially through the internet where so many things have hidden catches. However, you really have everything together at ONEMODELPLACE. I have just been on for just under a month and the feedback is fantastic. I am encouraging all my photographer friends and models to get onboard...FAST. Actually, anybody, to check it out. The site is very easy to function and very people friendly. Plus one cannot beat the exposure and connections to others.

Again, thanks for a such a cool place.... actually its kinda addicting."

Michael B. Aguirre
O•M•P Photographer #44329

"It must be said that OMP changed my life! My first contact in 2001 with Alison (#5521) led to a change in my direction on the art side. Alison when in the UK introduced me to first timer Laura (# 27959) and I made my first ever airline flight to LA in March. Gina (#23458) contacted me through OMP earlier this year, and after several shoots we traveled together to New York State in June for a fine art photographers meet. Another twist is that Alison is a botanist and Laura a marine biologist, as a result I've have done work with them in their specialist areas which has resulted in me being commissioned to produce a bio-diversity exhibition with Alison & Laura providing the technical text and information for the display! Just a couple of the tales.... but OMP has a lot to answer for!"

Alex Ingram
O•M•P Photographer #3536

"As a Professional Advertising Photographer working in the UK and abroad, my work flow has dramatically improved with the ease and large choice of high quality M/F models - I find the site very professional and friendly.

I am always impressed with the size of the site and how professional it is run 24 /7. OMP is a "must" for any Professional or new model who wants to get noticed and booked by the World's leading Photographers"

Mark Edwards
O•M•P Photographer #37409

That's just a couple ... there are many more including myself.

"I've been on OMP since 2001, and seen many changes.  Most for the better ... although it's not a perfect website. My own personal website would be perfect. No other can be better than my own website! Ohhh I don't have a website! Dang! Well I guess for the cost .. OMP would be the next best thing! Oh yea, there is this free website called ModelMayhem that is pretty cool too! Also I am on MySpace and that is really awesome! It's FREE too!"

Life is good! big_smile

Good one!  Informed judgment is the key to which not all lend a voice.

But as those that lay in repose that can't complain, one can take the wisdom extolled when they were once sane...

As for Selects comment about OMP not allowing the mention of MM ... that's their purgative. How come you want to make this a "Pepsi vs. Coke" battle? Is Bud better than Miller? "Hell yes!" LOL

Even THIS forum will get weighted down with negativity that does not solve any problems, nor does it "inform" other people when it has reached a saturation point that everyone is sick of it. Now let's have some more positive input! It can't be all negative!

The real scams are not with OMP or any other website which charge a few dollars a month for their services - the real scams are the $2K+ photo mills and modeling events charging $5K for a chance to meet agencies ...

http://www.easybackgroundcheck.com is a great resource that everyone should checkout - if MM can be used to warn models of the real ripoffs out there - then everyone would benefit.

okai, since i cant leave a comment on the other thread, for some reason. i would say it here.

personally, i've had some problems with OMP . not major ones though, stuff like it being slow and image size.

what i wish would have happenned that people who run OMP would read it and take these things into consideration and actually do something about it.

as someone here said that people should ~ "get over it and stop bitching" .. that would never happened. some people like complaining. and its not even about that, sometimes, useful information is brought up.

personally, I dont mind my OMP account. through that site, i met some wonderful photographers.

but you have to realize something. it is almost impossible to creat a site or any type of "organization" that deals with Massive comunity, and keep everyone happy.
some people will always talk shit about it, for different reasons.
some will bless the day that this "organization" was created.

Yo Patrick... the problem with your post here, is the fact that it is almost self-defeating.  Your message has only been up for less than an hour, and ALREADY there's posters in this thread who are voicing their displeasure with OMP.  Dude... ITS A FREAKIN EPIDEMIC!  Lets see how long this thread hangs before it ALSO gets locked... LOL!

I'm a member of both MM and OMP.

I pay for OMP. I hardly ever look at the OMP forums, but I do notice new models in my area and I think they have a pretty good search tool. It's not perfect, but nothing is.

I don't pay for MM. I look at these forums a couple of times a day. I think the search tool is pretty lousy. And there's not much volume compared to OMP.

Now, if these forums continue to fill up with people bitching or posting dog pictures, then soon I will no longer check this site, let alone pay for it.

Well, you can always go back home!  LOL   You used to be a big fish in the small pond when OMP was a little whipper snapper ... LOL

Have you checked all those different memberships options they offer?  What I think has been hurting OMP more than anything else is how the website has tryied to be ALL for Everyone and Anyone who has money. It makes it a pecking order based on how much money a person has to spend. It does lead to problems.

When I decide to down grade the "plan" I have with OMP, I'm sure that they will miss me!

OK, what happened to you exactly? What is YOUR beef against the World and OMP?  Do they owe you money?  Did you not get laid because of the website? What is it exactly in "legal" terms that gives YOU a greivance against OMP?

If you do have a legitamate complaint against OMP for damages done, then I would hope that you take legal action (hire an attorney) or do what ever you need to resolve your problem with OMP. Whining and complaining on this forum will not resolve your issues.

What are you attempting to "influence" here? There is not a jury or court here.

MM is much more nicely laid out to me. At OMP the competing menu bars with the popup ads etc, always made it difficult for me to find things.

As for negativity, the forums are open forums. I like hearing the good AND the bad on any topic. It's called being an informed consumer. If you don't like these threads how about just not reading them?..instead of complaining about people complaining or taking a censorship approach?

I don't like the layout on Model Mayhem.  There are not enough pages with browsing buttons to maneuver from one to the next. The search engine does not allow for me to put a models # and find them that way. There are more if you care to listen.

The forum here has been taken over by "some" people who just want to ram rod their own self important issues down others throats rather than allow for others to voice their differing opinions.  But that does not keep me from reading the forum.

There was a time that OMP's forum had quite the same atmosphere as this forum.  Things do change in time.  I don't like how the corporate World works all the time ... and I do fight for the smaller businesses.  This Model Mayhem is a nice little website that will have growing too. I wish the best for both OMP AND MM!

Censorship? Isn't locking a thread ... umm nevermind!

So much for the forums of MM not being censored, all the OMP threads are getting locked! What's the purpose of a lock anyway? People can still read it and create new ones?

If you are going to censor, do it right and remove the post and ban the posters.
