I've been a member of MM for the last couple of weeks and I am noticing an increasing number of members that contact me for the wrong reasons or purpose... I am wondering what's so hard about taking 5 seconds reading my first paragraph saying I'm not here for dating/relating, and what's so evil about scrolling down to find out that I don't do nudes, glamour lingerie/swimwear playboy-maxim-fhm style?

What's up with this photographer that I thought was initially talented and professional that started sending me personal vacation photos and asking me if I have a bf, that his lovers are Asians?  Did I not say I'm not here for dating and relating, in fact I am a newly-wed?  Or do I need to explain that on my profile to shoo away these ppl?

What's up with these photographers asking me to pose glamour/maxim lingerie?  Didn't I say I don't do that type of modeling?

What's up with these random fetish/special interests/goth/nude photographers trying to add me as a friend, no matter how many times I decline?  and yes I decline when I don't see why he would be interested in becoming my "friend" IF he had only read my PROFILE!  I have so many "friends" already... and most of them I went and found, and requested as friends because I had a work interest or I liked that person's portfolio.  Perhaps they simply like my portfolio but I consider "friends" feature as a networking tool and I just don't see any connection with these photographers, ESPECIALLY when they don't leave any tag, comment, or message.

I think a profile says A LOT about that person.  Seriously, people... stop being lazy and read the profile!!!! and leave a tag or something if you wanna be friends with that person!

I say post the names and MM # of anyone that has such trouble reading so the others that can read and are decent people will know whom to be on the look out for.
And don't worry about pissing anyone off, remeber, they can't read.

It makes it harder for any newbie thats looking for a photographer to get a fair shake when someone turns stalker or insta-perve when they answer an email with a shoot offer.

Things that make you say "get a rope"

Maybe you should ask Tyler to change your id, Luvbrace conjurs up images a leather strap thingy that spreads your legs and keeps you fixed there while you a receive a good "you-know-whatting".

This might be giving the perves the wrong idea?

I was actually thinking about that... although that wasn't the intended meaning of my username at all (believe it or not it was a title of a lovesong in Japan some 10 years ago).  You know what, I think I'm sold on your input, I think I will go ask Tyler to have it changed and see what happens! : P

There are profiles on here? I thought it was only pics.......
Hmmmmm.
Must look again.....

Ok. seriously, It is because you are unlike 80% of the other models that state 'I don't do nudes' (if you look in their profile, they did them / do them / screen with that statement.

Do not take offense to it.
Personally, I think you should be flattered that so many horny men... I mean photographers want to get you nekkid, I mean photograph you nude. :-)

I also agree with Belair.
Your profile say nothing about not doing a dinner and a movie... I guess it is fair game to ask :-P

Ok. I am being facetious.

Luvbrace (I like that name, Keep it please!) you have to take the good with the bad. Not everyone here is illiterate. You just seem to have attracted a major bunch. Give it a month or two and they will move on. Probably to Reese since she has been so quiet.

Ohm The Asian Fetish thing.... What is up with that?
Why is it all us guys have a thing for Asian women?
I could never explain it myself.
Maybe you could :-)

Do not take life seriously.........

Hahaha >Ty

Yea I know, this Asian fetish thing... what is this?  Well, actually, I heard of this theory that actually seems correct to me... Asians (not so much asian americans but asians from asia) tend to be more accepting/open to geekiness. LOL.  I'm not saying "geek" in a bad way, but Asians tend to welcome animation-geeks, book worms, photo-geeks, car geeks... cuz that's not a wierd thing at all in our culture.  Hence if you look around, so many film industry/photographers/CG artists etc with Asian girlfriends or wives....

I've recently shot stuff like no-shirt, just denim jacket, or bikini-top with denims, or technically topless but completely covered up type stuff, but they are still strictly hi-fashion/editorial/beauty.  No squishing breasts together half mouth opened or I'm posing doggy style on a fluffy bed type stuff, if you know what I mean? LOL  Not that that's bad, and not that Fetish/bondage is bad, I give all my respects to those that shoot it or pose for it, it's just not my style or preference.

PS I'd gladly go out to dinner with anyone if you wanna get to know me and my HUSBAND. hahaha

SEE?! Asian - Geek connection confirmed!!!

Ty, it's not about the Escort thing, its about assessing whether you want to get to know me as a model/work interest or you want to try to hook up with me...in context of someone asking me out to a dinner through MM.   If the latter is the case, that photographer will back off with the mention of a HUSBAND.  But actually, this isn't even realistic of a scenario to me as nobody's ever contacted me in MM so far to flat out go out on a dinner date.  You and Belair are the first two! haha.

A picture worth a 1,000 words. I judge what a model will and won't do by the photos.

So you have the name Luvbrace and are surprised people are looking for luv?

Profile is just sell copy.

If a profile says no TFP, but the photos are lousy, I know then model does TFP, for example.

Make sure your photos are not giving anyone the wrong idea. In your case, you seem to have tasteful photos, but I'm not sure what you have against glamour...

On the internet, that's what passed for glamour.

Also on the internet, no one can read. It's a sad fact that I've just grown to accept. Nobody reads my profiles, either. On one site in particular I don't have much space to type, so i only ask for full project details and I won't ever do porn, video or promotional work.  Natually, every single request I get from he site that indicates what the assignment is about asks from porn, video or promotional work.

I am not so sure where the problem is...

Well... I do understand, I state clearly that I don't have time for TFP's and I am still contacted for such freebees.

So, I know where you are coming from. Usually I respond with a brief note and point to the fact that I don't do TFP's.

In the case you describe, you seem to be in a constant correspondence with him.

Just write you don't want to have any further contact.

Now... THEDA, REESE, TYLER... I think an individual IGNORE function could be cool. A box that can be checked and unchecked and no emails will come through into the mailbox from a banned member. That member just receives and automated reply such as "Sorry, this member has chosen not to accept any messages from you at this time. Hopefully you find other members that are interested to have contact with you."

You put the profile there so they can read it, if they dont its not your fault.
You put certain things in the profile that you will not do, if they read that wrong it is not your fault.
If you get "Requests" thru "Other" means of contacting you, they are not professional.
In any of these case's the person can be reported as harrassing you to the web site owner (Tyler in this case), or one of his Moderators (Theda - the only one i have seen on here).
Get the persons info and relay that to them and they will do something about it. This is not a site for soliciting prostitutes or getting dates. All this type of actions do is give the intended a reason to say "The site is not properly managed and i was solicitied countless times for sex thru the site", which in turn is not good exposure for the site or its future.

Don't blame me and reese... All site coding s Tyler's fault. However, we have a block feature that prevents messages from going through from blocked members.

It's called MEN WHO EAT RICE

You know, it's actually interesting, I am a martial artist for over 30 years, and in connection with that, I learned a lot about Eastern philosophy and culture. So much, that I even gave a lecture about Eastern Philosophy and Martial Arts at a college here in NYC.

Friends (even Asian girls) are telling me that they are surprised that I don't date an Asian girl... like I MUST date one because I know a thing or two about the culture. Not that I wouldn't date one... dated Japanese, Korean and Chinese (Taiwan), but they stumbled into my life and I didn't look them up. Hey, while I was eyeballing this very hot latina on inline skates, I got hit on by my second ex-wife who was a hot black girl with 1/4 cherokee... LOL

Fact is, that although I like the looks of some girls... I am not particularily attracted to Asians, or any other ethnicities for that matter.

Maybe it's because I chose a woman for certain qualities (sexy, smart, good buddy, humor, athletic, kinky and unusual look), and there, it doesn't matter which ethnicity she is coming from.

But that is off topic right now.

Cheers

Udo

To be fair to the users of the friend feature...

Someone may not *yet* have the kinds of images you do in their portfolio, and would like to make a connection with you precisely for that reason.  I am a liberal user of the friend button.  If this were like omp where I could privately bookmark someone until I can get back to them and write a nice note, I would, but as it is I pop over a friend request so I don't lose them back into the pool.  It's not a pervy thing, it's an indication of interest.

I always read a model's profile, from beginning to end, and take what they've said into consideration before contacting them.  If someone says they don't want to work with short fat white amateur female photographers who also model, I won't contact them.  wink  Mostly, I'm flexible, because I'm *so* new that I'm happy to try a lot of different things, so most models' paramaters are fine by me.  There might be more of that out there than you're allowing for.  I hope people aren't assuming weird things about me because I'm sending a friend request!

Eep.

Sorry, but I agree with the poster here. Professional photographers, hell, professional ANYTHING should not be hitting on models and asking them out on dates, how juvenile is that? Go to a freakin online dating service! Its horny jerkoffs like that who give honest and straightforward photogs like the rest of us a bad name and make alot of models and potential models very hesitant.

I am an amatuer and I know better than to use a models profile/message box/Email as a means to hit on her or ask her out and it puzzles me that photogs who call themselves "professionals" can't figure this shit out themselves.

I'd tend to agree with that.  But there seems to be that perception.  Before there were Russian mail order brides it was Asian mail order brides.  I remember seeing a documentary on it, and in it they asked the guys, why Asian women, what's wrong with non-Asians, and the guys were pretty honest about wanting women that knew their place, took care of their man, submissive, etc.

My housemate (who is second generation chinese american) dates who she wants to, she doesn't have any particular qualities or ethnicity she gravitates towards, other than she tend to go for guys who will leave her in a couple years.  But she seemed to be very familiar with white guy only going for Asian woman thing and said she is wary of that sort of guy cause she doesn't want to be anyone's stereotypical fantasy whether its as a dragon lady or submissive pseudo-slave.

Well Michael;

I don't use my job to date models. However, I think that the difference between you and others is that you are an amateur and make your living in another field.

Do you know that 40percent or more of all relationships and marriages starting at the office? Because people work together all the time and that interpersonal interaction often leads to romance.

So, full time professionals in our industry do meet each other, and that just leads often to dating and relationships.

I personally don't have really time to date, because I shoot almost daily and when I don't shoot, I edit, meet clients do networking and be on ModelMayhem.

I don't go out much... and almost the only ladies I am meeting all the time are models...

What do you think may happen sometimes down the road... I may very well meet a girl that I totally connect with and guess what... in that case, I will probably ask her out... if she is not asking me first.

So, put that under considerations when you make blanket statements as a person with a life outside of this industry... ;-)

Cheers

My brother-out-law is convinced the phenomenon is related to latent homosexuality. It's no less ridiuclous than the submissive asian female theory.

I used to have a thing for Asian women, but then I dated one and was cured. Submissiveness was never part of my interest, but maybe leatent heterosexuality was?

I am an amatuer and I know better than to use a models profile/message box/Email as a means to hit on her or ask her out and it puzzles me that photogs who call themselves "professionals" can't figure this shit out themselves.

Well Michael;

So, put that under considerations when you make blanket statements as a person with a life outside of this industry... ;-)

Cheers

Udo

That is not what I meant, that is all fine and good. What I was refering to (and what the poster was as well) is photogs who contact a model for the sole purpose of asking them if they are single or if they want to go out. Are they contacting them for business or for a date? I can pretty much guarantee most models looking for work do not want some photog she doesnt know messaging her and asking her personal questions that really have nothing to do with BUSINESS. Sounds like some people are treating this like some kind of dating service, I'm just saying to show a little respect.

I used to have a thing for Asian women, but then I dated one and was cured.

Let me know if you feel ill again.  Maybe I can help.
