The love... and a little bit of money.. I've often thought about doing this full time, but then that takes the fun out of it... and quite frankley.. there are a helluvalot easier ways to make a buck.

I have posted before that I have modeled off and on for 6 years and have only been paid twice. Both paying jobs were from photographers who offered to pay me up front. I like to have the images!

I love being part of a creative process, and I love art in all forms. There's nothing more satisfying for me than starting out with nothing but an idea, and collaborating with someone and making it happen.

However, I never turn down a paid shoot, lol.

My grandmother always told me, "Do what you love, and the money will follow."

I sure hope she's right soon!

A man can be happy with a woman as long as he doesn't love her.

I’m in this for my Girlfriends love of money and shopping.

Most of my clients just pay Nordstrom and Sachs directly.

Pretty soon I’ll make enough for her to stop seeing other guys.

What does pathetic mean?

Funny I was thinking of posting something similiar just about the same time but got busy.

For this part of photography,  meaning fashion, people,  etc,   I love the people.   The social interaction with creative people on crews.  To work and travel with some truly sweet people.  (I have rules about not working with uptight or truly mean people..... I see a big difference between honest truth and just mean)

I do love to create a great new image but money ha.   I knew in my head early that even school or being a doctor may not be the quickest way to being rich with money and objects.   But I choose this path and I feel and believe I am richer than my banker and law office partner friends.

I will leave it there.  The big beach party in the newbie section last night gave me a hangover.

I think ANYONE that gets into ANYTHING with their EYE
and MIND focused on greenbacks, is slowly but surely
dooming their heart and spirit to a slow painful death.

It's NOT for money!  Money comes and goes in my life ... as long as I have the freedom to live this way, I'm happy. As long as I can afford my coffee and newspaper ... I'm ok with little money. I'm too lazy to work, and this seems like so much fun that it's more like "play" to me.  The beautiful women are an incentive too.

After years of trying other things, I've found I'm not much good for anything else!

Must be for love then?

LOL, I know you better than that hmmmm;)

Anyways, there are different ways as to how people show their love of photography. There are some people who willingly take on an inexperienced nobody and shows him/her the ropes and lighting techniques etcetera... walks him/her through the "zone" system, puts up with incessant questioning about the meter lol...ambient? incident? spot? reflected light heh? still no invoice wink

I'd say for love of photography, yes that sounds just about right.

I love what I do- if I didn't, then I wouldn't have stuck with it as long as I have, and dealt with the crap that comes with this industry.

However, I think in this industry, there are two types of people.  There are the people who do it for fun and for the sole value of art, and I respect that, and of course you shouldn't "sell out" per se if that is your purpose.  Then there are the career driven people.  Those people consist of those who are in it solely for money (more power to ya though, it IS a business), and those who love it, and need to pay the bills.

I fall into the latter.  I have made myself completely available for acting/modeling/makeup and such.  I am married, so I am not in dire need of money- however, this is my career.  I take as I would any other profession, and in any other profession you usually get paid.  It's just a matter of opinion, but when it crosses over from being a hobby into a career, money becomes more of a priority.  Just my opinion.
