I had a critique thread months ago, which was a lot of fun, but I simply didn't have the time to continue with it. You can check out the 10 pages of posts here: https://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thre … 573&page=1 Here's the drill: I'm going to be honest. If I think something is crap. I'll call it crap. If it's awesome, I will say it's awesome. I will always do my best to figure out something that I like. There's a very good chance I'll use a heavy dose of sarcasm. If you think you might get upset, check out the previous thread (linked above) to see what sort of critiques I do before posting. Now, who is interested?

What I see is rather traditional. There was no reason to take this horizontally. Sure, I get to see more bokeh, but I would have loved to see more of her. You have the exact same photo twice in you port, but cropped and edited two different ways. Use this one: But edit it like the other one. This is my favorite: But next time, drop down a little bit so that you're photographing her eye to eye. Here, you're looking down on her which screws up how things look.

Cole Morrison wrote: I'm in the mood for this I really really really like this: It reminds me that I want to start photographing some more artsy stuff. Your pose is perfect for the mood of the photo. 18+ https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/1 … 5cc33a.jpg This just doesn't do a lot for me. Other than make me question "Why is her crotch towards the camera?" I get the confidence, but I think there are other ways of getting around that. This lighting is awesome: And your expression is fierce. Nicely done. Thank you for coming back. You may or may not remember that you were the first one for me to critique on my last thread. Your work has changed a lot since then. I'm curious to see where you go from here.

I'm totally new to this side of photography, but as a concert photog i have one helluva thick skin so please, have at it. I was a concert photographer for the Denver Post for four years before I ever tried to take a photo of a model. Model photography, for me, started in November of 2011. I see what you were going for with this... ...but I don't think it really worked. She looks uncomfortable and maybe even a little angry. He looks like he's going "rawwwrrr bear hug!" It doesn't help that his face is smashed into the side of her head. It's all just terribly stiff and awkward. Maternity shoots should be about love and life and that shouldn't stress people out. You did fine with the technical side, but the subject is sometimes more important than the art of the photo. And.....that watermark is ridiculously big and clunky. Look at her arm: Really look at it. Notice something? It looks like a wonky little baby arm because of how it is arranged in relation to the camera. Don't let a model do that. This is my favorite of what you currently have: The lighting is subdued and makes sense, but I have to question why you didn't drop down a bit so that you weren't shooting down your model, but instead at the same height. That would help make your model look taller.

Herbert OK, I can understand having an interest in knives, but I don't really feel like you have taken much of your work from the glamour side of photography with "hot chick with a sword." That appeals to some people, but you're a better photographer than that. This is my favorite in your portfolio: 18+ https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/1 … ed5d78.jpg I just wish her expression didn't make her look so lost. But, it's the most artistic in my opinion because the weapon is serving a thematic purpose. The archer is a very strong symbol. I feel like this is ultimately the direction your work needs to go. It needs to move beyond the "hot chick and a sword," into the realm of the symbol. Good luck.

I still absolutely adore this image: I listed it a while ago, and every time I see it, I feel reaffirmed that I like it. It's artistic and weird, and all around awesome. This is probably the only photo I don't like in your portfolio: Your nose has almost completely disappeared into your face. Your eyes look awesome, but a complete face is hard to beat. You are definitely one of those people that I would love to work with one day.

Not the best port. Looking to build my musician's portfolio, and really just looking to have some fun. Constructive criticism is always a good thing.

This is my least favorite: 18+ https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/1 … e1f358.jpg I honestly don't understand the point. The photographer took an awkward photo while you were pulling off a sweater? I wish this was edited differently, but I really enjoy this: The composition and your form are fantastic. But the fact that this is a "fashion" shot and I can barely see the fashion because it's so dark seems silly. I can't stand the obnoxious frame around the photos, but that's not your fault:
