Mission Models
Hi Guys, Ive been sending apps/ringing agencies for a few days after falling out with my old one. Been called by Bob from Mission Models who seems a little eccentric, but instantly offered me a job in London. Seems like a nice guy but I've heard conflicting reports about the agency, Some people say its great and some people say it's a scam. My spidey senses are tingling... Has anyone had experience with them, or heard any reliable stories about their reputation, good or bad? All help is gladly accepted. Thanks all! Josh Jan 30 10 02:32 pm Link Jan 30 10 02:36 pm Link Bump Jan 31 10 05:37 am Link https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%22mi … =firefox-a I think you'll find all you need there Just my $0.02 Ciao Stefano www.stefanobrunesci.com Jan 31 10 05:38 am Link I got the same thing. That Bob seems like a total d*** to me. He was speaking to me on the phone and got very agressive with me. I sent him some pics, he said I need professional ones from their studio costing £200. I said well I thought most agencies only needed snapshots, or if they did need professional pictures they wouldn't be as expensive as that, he then got all shouty and idiotic and even swore at me down the phone. So I kinda went off the idea. If he was like that on the phone- imagine how he would be in person!! I personally think its a scam, they don't get any models on there work, they are just lucky that some of the models listed have built up good careers with other agencies like that Anara and Lynsdey Bass. My advice would be to stay away! If you want to see him being even more ego-centric and idiotic, type him into the search in youtube. Total IDIOT Jan 31 10 08:01 am Link Oh and also, a girl who went to my school is on there and I know she doesn't do any modelling work. She's got the pictures that she had taken with them and nothing else. I think she just works in a shop Jan 31 10 08:03 am Link Thanks for your reply Liz, really helpfull I think I'll stay away from them, Theres plenty more agancies out there! Does anyone have any ideas of who to apply to? Atm Ive got apps in the works for Storm, Boss, Nemesis, Industry People and Models1. Any more reputable agencies? Cheers all! Hope everyones having a good weekend. Jan 31 10 08:19 am Link Josh Marshal wrote: These. May 15 10 01:08 pm Link I posted my response on the first page of this thread - (my response on that thread might seem a little sharp, but it was only due to the masses of ignorance being thrown about the place from people who think they know it all)... https://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thread_id=447349 Kristina Vassilieva http://www.kvmodel.com May 15 10 03:12 pm Link Hey, I know who you are talking about, I met him in a studio whilst working with another team. I didn't join the agency as I had heard mixed reviews but he didn't ask for money so I don't think he's trying to scam anyone. I heard he is good for setting up good test shoots rather than well paid work but nothing to worry about. May 15 10 03:19 pm Link Kristina Vassilieva wrote: Read your posting on the other forum. What I noticed and know is that most agency's inc. Storm and Select will put up models tear sheet esp. if it's Vogue, good for adv. May 15 10 03:34 pm Link I applied to them last year, he rang me at unsocial hours at night being very rude he told me my photos was awful but loved my look I was naiive and foolishly paid £250 to get a photoshoot, tbh the photos werent that great at all. but luckily in person he isn't as rude. he kept asking me to ring them at certain times and stuff, and to email him when the photos are recieved i did so, but didnt hear from him, i rang him and asked him, again very rude and said to re-email em, i didnt understand if the shoot was for his agency, why he didnt have them? I didnt hear from them until last night I decided to re-apply just for a laugh and see what he'd do... he rang me up 20 mins ago, very rude!! saying where on earth have I been for a year and what have I been doing? I explained that I was busy with university and had a death in the family but now i'm back into modelling. He asked where I got these photos from and I said I have been working with photographers for model mayhem and purestorm to extend my portfolio and been applying for modelling auditions and that this wednesday i'm in a catwalk fashion show for a local fashion university and he asked is it paid? I said no but I get a dvd to show my performance, he said well maybe i should leave you doing free jobs when i could have got you a business and paid castings. he asked me to ring him later tonight as he isn't sure whether to take me back after abondaning him.. yeah like i'm going to do that Jun 13 10 03:12 am Link Rebecca Bond wrote: So what does he say about the pictures in your portfolio ? He is very patronising and very eccentric. He said that the photos I sent in were "crap" but he did like my look. He was very demanding and was sending me links to his web site and talking me through all the different girls and shots whilst on the phone during his initial contact with me. He gave me details for a casting the due to take place the very next day for a hair fashion show and discussed details of a shoot at their studio in London. He wanted me to pay £50 deposit there and then over the phone and then a further £200 on the day of the shoot to cover hair and makeup costs and studio fees. He chased me every 2-3 hours over the next 3 days until I had paid the deposit. I turned up at the studio on the arranged day and he had forgotten that I was even coming. He has a very strong character and is very dominating but to be taken with a pinch of salt. I was not overly impressed with the outcome of my photos, the makeup was very strong and over the top, the hair styling was basic to say the least. All my friends and people from casting say that the shots do me no justice and that the person in the shots look nothing like me. after being with Mission Models for over a year I have heard nothing back in relation to work, so I resent my photos to Bob to see if he had forgotten about me...he called me back at 9:30pm ranting and raving as to why I had not been in contact and chasing him for workâ¦just a big money making scam.... Jul 27 10 03:57 am Link Bob called me today, at 8p.m, we talked for such a long time that i got bored. He was swearing A LOT and was very unkind Of course, he was saying that my portfolio is awful, he also said that modelmayhem website is crap and full of rapist, and if I want to get raiped I should let HIM know. At the end of the convo he mentioned that i have to pay 250 for the photo shoot. Also when he was telling me what should i bring to the photo shoot, he asked about my pairs of shoes, I asked him if he wants me to bring high heels, his reply was: OH YES BITCH, BRING HIGH HEELS. I think he is psycho!! Im definetely not going there! Aug 11 10 05:13 pm Link I've just had one of my models contact me about this gentleman! He told her that my photos of her were crap and that she needs to pay him £50 deposit and then £200 on the day for a proper shoot then he would get her loads of work! He was rude to her and shouted at her and said that all photographers on MM and Purestorm were rapists. He phoned her every few hours and kept her on the phone for ages giving it the hard sell. Dec 12 10 01:08 pm Link I applied to Mission Models a few hours ago and got a phone call from Robert about an hour ago. But after reading what MM members have said I'm pretty sure I won't be considering working with them at all now. Nothing was mentioned about any prices or anything like that, but he was rather rude on the phone and demanded to know who took the photos I sent and told me the photographers I work with are "amateurs" and started lecturing me about it being "illegal" to shoot without written parental consent under the age of 18... Apr 26 12 12:58 pm Link The guy at Mission Models was very rude, aggressive and un-professional. He called me at random hours in the day like 7pm, 11pm and once at 2am in the morning, no good modelling agency does that in my opinion. I was on the phone with him for about 30 minutes, saying that he liked my look etc he swore a lot and was very daunting. As soon as he mentioned that fact that I had to pay for the shoots, I locked off immediately, I am told everywhere no good modelling agency makes you pay up front for a shoot. Stay well away! May 24 12 09:51 am Link Beth Chambers wrote: Oh dear, same thing happened to me today. He asked me the exact same question and gave me the same little lecture. Along with that, he kept telling me that I'm just a little girl, and I shouldn't be trying to play smart with the 'big owner of an agency' when I asked him questions about payment. He also said that I should come off MM because the photographers are 'amateurs' and they'd take advantage of me sexually. Cutting contact. Jun 20 12 06:22 pm Link Guys, PLS READ!!!! Please please do not fall victim for this agency and the fake people that have been posting comments on here saying it is legit. Yes he might have gotten a few jobs here and there which I don't know but the mere fact that he lies on his website is enough for me to come to a conclusion that he only wants to get money off people. I also got a call just like everyone else. Initially, I hadn't taken the time to look through his website. He told me I was absolutely gorgeous and blah blah blah but my pictures were not of good standard. He also dropped a few rude comments. He must have spent over 30minutes on the phone going on about his agency and how his models are flown to Newyork, California etc. I knew already that it was all bullshit. A true agency will not call you at 9pm boasting about the type of jobs the have offered their models. But because I am a nice and polite person, I let him carry on with his rubbish talk. I found the conversation boring and I wanted him off my phone asap but didn't want to be rude. At the end he told me he will offer me a photo shoot for 90pounds that will get the big agencies wanting to sign me. I asked myself this questions, if he was a true agent, he is meant to look for jobs for me so why would he say that after I have had the photo shoots, all the big agencies will want to hire me? Also, a true agency don't care about professional pictures. They want to see pictures of you natural with no retouching done to the photos or preferable, they want you to walk in so they can see exactly what you look like. so why pay any amount at all to get professional photos?? I said no straight away. He didn't seem happy and said to me none of the big agencies I applied to will contact me. I told him I didn't care. I am a postgraduate Chemistry student so if modelling doesn't work, its not the end of the world. He then said very rudely, he will not be calling me back and that storm , select and all the big agencies I applied to won't call me. I told him that I will take my chances and won't take his offer and the conversation ended. Two days later, my phone rings and who is calling? the same guy that said he won't call me. I didn't pick up and he left a message saying he has casting for me with victoria secret and vogue. I laughed so hard because this dude must think I'm a fool. anyways, he calls me again and I picked up. He asked me if I had any luck with the big agencies, I said no but BMA contacted me. He said well if they are not offering me a contract then they don't want me and asked if I still want his offer. By this time, I have had a good look at his website and came across the page where he claims one of his models (The first girl who is blonde) was hired by Abrecrombie&fitch for marketing purposes. (and I hope he hasn't taken this off). That is a BIG LIE!!!!! I work for Hollister and if anyone knows Hollister, you will also know that Hollister, A&F, A&F Kids and Gilly Hicks are run by the same company. Hollister and A&F will never and have never payed models that don't work in their stores for advertising or marketing purposes. You will never see them on bill boards or on TV or hear on radio. They advertise through their models in store and all the models you see on the shopping bags and on their websites, they are all staff members. That is their policy!!!!! and that is why they employ 'only good looking people'' After I was sick and tired of his crap talk. I mentioned that to him. He quickly tried to defend himself saying thats not true, claiming a well know photographer took those pictures. I asked him why the picture is not on his website and he couldn't answer but said he will send proof of the payment he received from A&F. I told him I didn't want to see that but instead he should send me the picture taken of his model by A&F. He told me since I'm questioning his companies integrity, he will decline my application. as if?? lol. I told him never to call me and promised him I will write a review about his agency to prevent innocent people from falling victim. luckily I was wise enough not to fall victim. tbh you don't even need to be smart or wise..his actions says it all!! If his model was used by A&F that should be the first picture on his website! He sent me a text a few minutes later saying 'he wishes me all the best''. he then called a few minutes later asking me to send my email so he can send me the picture to prove he was telling the truth. I sent it to him. on the phone he was still rude saying i will prove to you and these big agencies won't contact you. Well, he did send me a picture and I can't even describe with words what I saw. The quality was so bad. He had photoshopped a&f's logo to it..I mean even a fool will not even think twice with it.. at first I laughed so hard but then I thought this guy is insane. He really has a problem and he needs deliverance!!! If you read this and you still go ahead to join his agency, then I'm sorry but you are very stupid!! However paying the agency directly for test is a major red flag, every major agency I know of has list of recommended photographers who they work with. These photographers will have worked out a discount for models that the agency refers. Sometimes one of those photographers may love a new models look and want to shoot them at no charge - bonus for the model. Feb 12 14 01:58 pm Link Guys, PLS READ!!!! Feb 13 14 01:53 am Link The A&F model is Chynna from Southend. I discovered her and introduced her to Bob. Last year she flew to LA to shoot the A&F Kids campaign with Bruce Weber, one of the world's best known fashion photographers who shoots all A&F campaigns, as well as Calvin Klein, Vogue, and many more. So I can categorically state that this is a true story. I shoot tests of newbies and wannabes regularly for Mission and yes Bob is a character, and I get paid for the tests which considering I have 25 years experience, buy kit, spend hours retouching, provide guidance and advice, is a reasonable return. Once a model is signed I shoot all the models for free, during the test sessions. I have also employed many of his models on commercial shoots. My portfolio page is nearly all Mission Models girls.
