In a world of weapons, cameras, and foreigners, danger lurks everywhere.  It behoves us to protect the young women who would fall victim to it, by setting an example. We ought to insist that they take with them a full escort to every photo shoot.

I have started insisting that every woman bring an escort to shoot with a photographer - it's the right thing to do!

If a photographer doesn't allow escorts, he's up to no good.

It's a serious discussion about a serious problem, and the more people who participate the better.

Lol.

Ok no seriously OP.
A woman can take care of herself. She just needs to use her wits when working with other people.
Also I love how this is about female models not male? What about the guys? Also what about the FEMALE photographers running into male models whom might attack them? Or a guy getting attacked by someone?
Just saying this can go MM MF FM FF...

So this is my advice to models.
Take a class in self defense. I'm being serious. Take it because you should have some idea of how to protect your self if a situation comes up.

Be smart use your brain. When talking or emailing a new photographer/model about a job look for red flags and follow your gut on your choices. Also this applies to other things. For me when I go someplace new I am always looking for a few things. : Where are the exits, just incase something happens? What can I use to defend myself? Where is my cell phone located or packed in or the house/studio phones located? How close am I to other people so that if I have to scream, will they hear me?

Make sure my husband or close friend knows the address of the place I will be @ also how long I plan on staying.

I think about these things with out ever thinking about having a hand gun on me or peper spray, THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA. Just because you own a gun and take it to shoot doesn't mean you can't have that gun turned around on you and be used on you.

If you get to a shoot and feel threaten at all at any time during the shoot, leave. It is better to have a bad mouthing photographer/model then to have your life in danger.

The mean world syndrome is strong in this one Obi-Wan.

I prefer to work with people that do their due diligence and are adults, not children that need to have a daddy figure take care of their every need.

I usually just slip the escort a roofy.  Then the model gets all embarrassed by his behavior that she never wants to bring one again.  Or she takes advantage of him.  Which is cool, too.

I know a guy in Las Vegas that allowed escorts. One llama arrived with her friend. While she was changing, he got the escort to pose nude and slipped a finger in her ass. When the llama posed for him, he did the same thing to her.

Moral of the story: if it is a dangerous situation, all an escort will do is allow for two people to be in danger.

Always let your husband know where you are, so that he can come rescue you if necessary. Pepper spray can't help you if you are locked in a tower, guarded by a dragon!

I encourage my models to bring several knights as escorts and to come packing with all sorts of Medieval weapons.

. .I also tell them a Chasity belt is not a bad idea either, because i cannot be trusted.  I have some awesome Chasity belt close ups if anyone is interested.

They are free to bring an escort as long as they pay for my armed security.

I don't much care of they bring an escort or not...all I ask is that I have advance notice and that the escort follow the rules of the shoot.

As for young ladies in peril, one of my favorite Virginia llamas is Megsy.  She's a former marine and could absolutely kick my butt if she ever decided it was worth the effort.  Requiring llamas to bring escorts makes about as much sense as requiring photographers to bring mosquito repellant to all shoots (including studio and indoor locations)...sometimes it makes sense and sometimes it's a waste or creates a mess.  One size fits all was a lie when it came to pantyhose and the same is true of a universal policy on escorts.

I care about the safety of young women everywhere.  However, when/if they shoot with me, they are in no danger of anything happening ... at least I won't do anything to harm them physically or emotionally (unless they're so fragile that saying hello will damage them).  No escort is necessary.  If they want to bring one, they are welcome to do it, especially if the escort won't disrupt the shoot.

I won't insist they bring someone, though.
