Aloha!

Thank you for checking out my thread!  I just signed up to be a mentor for those who wish to receive a little advice, constructive critiques, support, beauty/health/fitness tips, etc in modeling!  I'm a fitness professional, should you have questions in that area as well.  If you have something that's more of a private affair, send me a private message!  Tags are good too, & I have this thread linked to my profile, just in case it gets lost in the ocean of threads!  If you like my advice/tips, please come back here & say so!  Talk to you soon!

I would love some mentoring!

I was wondering what kind of modeling I should be doing, and I would also love to apply to some agencys but I'm not sure which ones would go for my "look."

Your input would help me out ALOT!

Thank you so much! smile

Out of curiosity, why do you think you're qualified to mentor beginning models?

She has over 6 years of modeling experience, as well as has worked with some of the finest photographers in California.
Just because she is not a MM forum girl does not mean she can't back up her teachings with real world modeling experience.

I have worked with Belly she is easy to get along with and can be a great teacher to new models.

I was asking, since I didn't see it on her profile. I certainly didn't imply that being a forum whore makes one more qualified to assist new models. smile

I for one am looking forward to her working with and teaching other models. She does have the experience and I am booked with her to shoot with me. She is a great model with experience and positive attitude.

True that, but look at my Iona Lynn profile these days, it is bare and only has like 8 images.

Hi there Belly Donsah!

I'm totally new to this although I did some modeling when I was 17. (I'm 25 now)

I want to amass a professional portfolio for my goal of being a motor sports event and product promo girl/"Umbrella girl".

I would be forever grateful for some fitness and nutrition tips. I used to be vegan and am pretty good about drinking a ton of water, eating only whole wheat/fiber, veggies...but I feel like I eat a lot! Sometimes I'm not as healthy as I know I should be and I need to lose 15 lbs to be competitive in my market (totally attainable, some Screwdrivers and Jagerbombs got the best of me about a year ago and I'm working on it, it's just going too slow).

I also am kind of lost in my creativity. I have so many ideas for shots I'd like, but I'm not sure how to make myself look good in them! I have a big mirror and I know I should practice, but I have this problem: I look in the mirror, think I look pretty darn good, take a self-photo, and it looks horrible!

Right now I know I've gotta start somewhere - I have lbs to lose and a portfolio to create. I would LOVE any of your advice and input.

Thanks Belly!
Luv,
Melissa

What a wonderful profile she has. I have no question in my mind what her experience is from reading her very well worded bio/profile, many could learn from.

Kudos Belly!

Here it is...
That is why all the MM peoples get pissed at the actual industry professionals who don't actually have time to post everyday because they are working jobs.

This is MM after all...

Isn't it? I'm also a mentor. Just because I'm not as active on the forums, does not mean I don't deserve to be one. And just because I don't have 20k posts on the forums, does not mean I don't read them.

Thank you very much, madame!  My goal is simply to aid those new to modeling to tell them of experiences to look out for as well as situations to avoid.  I can offer advice on how to navigate MM & use all that it has to offer to the fullest.  Nobody's perfect, I understand very well, but I'm trying to make another human being's modeling career & life in general a little easier.  I'm sure you could appreciate my efforts if you had asked me for tips.

Have a beautiful evening,
~ Belly Donsah

P.S.  I leave LOOONG emails for those who love specific detail!  Did I mention that I work through emails mostly?  It's mainly because a lot of requests are private matters, & I take other people's privacy very seriously.  It's definitely a lot more work & time-consuming, but I can guarantee that way your business is just your business & not the whole world's, unless you want it to be!  If all of my emails were posts, I'd be up in the thousands too!
P.P.S.  Don't worry!  I will get to all of you pretties in time, & your little dogs too!  Heehee!

Yes, thank you too!  I am a personal trainer full-time.  During the school year, I'm also a full-time student currently working on a double-major in Kinesiology & Dance, working toward my doctorate in Physical Therapy.  I also love Argentine tango & go to milongas 3 nights per week.  With whatever time I have left, I sleep, eat, & try to catch up on things & long-lost friends!  What do you do in the 168 hours per week?  I wish there were 210 at least!

I believe that if you feel you have experiences to offer & have wonderful pictures as references that you take modeling seriously, you can be a mentor!  I try to be the positive light amongst all the negativity around me (I do live in San Francisco ... the city that loves bums!)

Thank you for your patience!  I've received so many emails regarding mentoring that I'm having a little trouble keeping up with all of you!  I'm working on it as best I can!  If you want a reply pronto, send me an email so it's right in my face, lol!  Have a beautiful evening, and I wish you the best in all of your future endeavors!

I'd like to see the criteria a little tighter than "you think you are" and that some other people made good pictures of you.  That a model has worked with good photographers is certainly a good sign, but we see the most amazing amount of nonsense posted here by models and photographers with good pictures who evidently think they are qualified to give advice.

(By the way, I do not question your qualifications.  If Iona says you are qualified, you are.  I would point out, however, that those who put themselves out as mentors should, and generally do not, indicate which segments of the modeling market they are qualified to advise people on, and which they are not.)

Good evening to all!

I am once again active as a mentor!  I was getting quite a few negative emails about my mentorship, so I stopped until now because my life's path is beginning to change.  Ask me anything regarding modeling, dancing, nutrition, fitness, etc, & I will email you back!  Have a wonderful night, & I'll talk to you soon!

Being new to all this, A mentor is exactly what I could use to help me develop.
The first photographer I worked with has been terrific, with advice, suggestions, poses, helping me, but having a model to help me would be wonderful too!
