Hey people!I was wondering if any one had heard of personal model management at all? They are in contact with me on my StarNow profile and keep on coming back saying they are keen to work with me.

They say they are not an agency but are a management company which helps you to find an agency worldwide and are based in Milan I do believe.
I chatted with them before xmas and they say they are opening an office in NYC very soon and also have one here in London. Its £20 sign up to chat with all industry experts including photographers, nutritionists and dermatologists and what not and they offer to fly photographers around from say Milan to do test shoots for people and the like.

They say in their 'how it works' page on their website www.personalmodelmanagement.com that once you are approved they sign a contract to offer their services which also includes an advance on your book cards and a placement with the correct agencies. The contract worries me a little bit and they asked me where I got this information about the contract when i questioned them about it....its on their website...I am waiting for a response.

Can anyone help with this little dilemma?I have found nothing bad about them on the net but still not completely happy they have the best intentions!Anyone hooked up with them and been signed to an agent and gotten work?

Thank you much!

Jordan

I'd give about a 99%  that it's a scam.  Here's how I came to that conclusion

-- No address anywhere on the site, and the domain registration information is hidden.
-- No record of this company anywhere else that I can find
-- Website is from one of those design-your-own-blog hosting services
-- No history of the company or list of who runs it or their background
-- The text on the site isn't even in literate English

Add to  the above the fact that the site says, in effect,  "You don't have to be attractive, or of a certain height, or anything else... we find you work in alternative places" while at the same time listing all of the major model agencies and claiming (almost certainly falsely) to work with them and the whole thing just reeks of disingenuousness.

Sorry to disappoint, but I'd say save your 25 euro... the scam probably works becuase everyone says "Well, it's only 25 euro, I can risk that"... so don't be one of those that gets suckered in.

Hope that helps!

I thought that as well and they are annoyingly persistent!I didnt think any kind of agency or management company would chase potential clients and models.I have found their address somewhere on the net....not on their website though. It near Buckingham Palace of all places allegedly...on that road I do believe.

But thanks for checking it out...a second opinion is always welcome!

I liked this part the best, from the Registration page:

"Photos will be accepted in .jpg, .gif, .psd and .tif formats only. Please do not send photos embedded in MSWord, Works, PowerPoint, Excel or any other format other than as a regular picture attachment.

Photos will not be returned."

As if "Oh, I want you to e-mail my tiffs back right now!"  LOL

Tell them that "they need to be paying YOU!"

Then see how far that goes.  wink

If they argue about paying you, just keep repeating "Show me the money!"

Thanks for posting that information about personal model management.
I too have been contacted by them through star now and they are extremely persistent in getting me to join them. I'm even getting voicemail messages left saying they are urgent to talk. I didn't complete my application to them as they wanted money which I did not have and constantly email me since. Even after I sent them a snotty email stating why I didn't complete my application they reply back with a happy and friendly email encouraging me to complete it!

But now thanks to this new information I will be blocking all calls and messages from them.
Thanks!

Yup:

Personal Model Management

London, West Midlands SW1A 1AAA

p: 02071172880

http://www.personalmodelmanagement.com

FWIW They are not "near" Buck. House, the post cose SW1A 1AA  -IS-  Buckingham Palace

---

It also seems they have more than one address

Address [notice the same phone number]:

    London SW1W 0PR

    020 7117 2880

---

Apparently they don't realize that London is NOT in the West Mids. and the post code is meaningless, as well as it is not a West Mids. post code, in the first given address, it is also not a valid London post code. I have some serious doubts that that phone number is answered in London either... maybe in Lagos, but not in London.

I do believe we have come across them or others like them before. Here's a word of warning... as they are NOT an agency they can charge you UP FRONT whatever they want to for whatever services they provide, or not, that you agree to in their contract. It is quite likely that if they screw you, you will never find them, or, if you do, you will find them somewhere that you can not reach out and touch them.

I have been scammed by so many sites model mayhem is a joke after being overwhelmed by photographers wanting to take let's say sexy pictures of me, and asking for money for them, to star now that was full of weird so called jobs, I was so shocked to find a real company online. They helped me with my pics then I had eight appointments with top agencies and within three days of the appointment was signed by the agent as started to go for castings. The model business is not crazy everyone says they can help you but the only thing you need is an agent and Personal Model Management get you right in the door of every top agent out there. I am sooooooooo glad I found them or now I get paid instead of paying.

I have been receiving emails from Personal Model Management asking me to call their office cos they are keen to chat with me.
I called the first time and spoke to one Lindsay. She ended by tell me to sign up for 25Euros.

I am skeptical, If the are what they say they are, can't they be able to make out phone calls to Models and Talents they want to invest in?

I was ok to pay the 25 Euros (not much money, I thought) when I got my cheque but their incessant reminders to do so is cute but it makes me uncomfortable as it seems too good to be true.
They are some good reviews about them online, im guessing those might be paid ones.  Im glad that I found skeptics here too to reaffirm my concerns...more reviews please!

Hello,
the same with me, they were persistent for months and when asked why I should pay, to give me proofs of their previous work, their adress to visit them personally and talk about my prospects and the name of the manager of this company, they had no clear answear and they replied in poor English and in a rude way! They were actually funny! Scumms for sure!
They told me that it was strange for me making these questions and that they will remove me from their mailing list, but they continued sending at my starnow account!
A, and they reffered me to the wikipedia for information about themselves!haha, funny people!

Sounds similar in concept to Fresh Fashion Faces - http://www.freshfashionfaces.com/ - which is a legitimate scouting service.

The difference seems to be that these jokers demand money up front whereas FFF charge the agencies a scouting fee, but only if they place you.

It appears that their registration process, while requiring image submittals and other personal information  leaves out a few key items.... Like a model's stats: height, measurements.

That is strange!  I took a look at the website and their facebook link.   It raised my suspicions that they slam MM as "a scam site" when MM is far from being a "scam!"  This so called "model management" seems more toxic than most?  Thankfully we've got the MM forums to discuss these sorts of things!

Hi All

Im new to MM but wanted to let you know that I had a VERY strange experience with this "agency" I still don't know if they are legit or not, and don't want to get into a public slagging off but my primary discrepancy with them, was that I wanted to see links to zcards or models they manage, or links to their models in MM or any work they have done to a) understand the type of models they wanted me to work with and b) know that they are actually legit and are who they say they are- which they could'nt/would'nt and just kept insisting I attend their event which I believed I was supposed to be testing at but then when I cancelled was told they needed me there but not to shoot?? Huh? I found all of this quite strange as other model agencies that I have tested models for are able to send me links to any model they want me to work with, with all their measurements OR even various polaroid type pics for new faces that they don't have on their site yet.

My 2 cents too. smile

they have been contacting me loads to go to this big casting event thing, and then i couldnt make it so they phoned asking me to upload photo's and pay 25Euros. i asked why there was an upfront fee as any money should be taken after they have found you work.. apparently its because they used to take commision from jobs they got you and models were losing too much money.. so surely the answer is to just take the 25Euros afterwards.. rather than the commision! JOKERS!!
DONT DO IT!!!!!

Yea, this is a scam. I would be wary of anyone contacting you through StarNow as well, you're better off joining up with agencies who have real world addreses (ie an office you can visit). I'm with various casting/extras agencies and none of them charge you upfront for anything. You pay a joining fee (taken from your first wages) and then comission on the jobs you get. So far as I can tell, modelling agencies ought to work the same way.

hi Guys i am one of the longest standing models here on model mayhem and have had the most amazing career and success in every avenue of entertainment... i just met sir richard branson, president of Virgin Group, tour the world as a DJ AND music producer and work in eevry avenue of modelling from fashion to fitness to Adult work, commercial and more.

Model Mayhem is without a doubt the best site in the world and is far from fake... there are those that will try to cheat and scam people here however there are those humans who use knives to murder and rope to rape whilst the rest of us can quite happilly and normally use them to cook and tie things so a few bad eggs here doesnt downgrade the ship.

I just came into contact with these lying pieces of shit this morning and u have had the funniest communication with them and i will outline it below so everyone can finally see these people are scamming liars and even if they were not; after how they spoke to me and the nonsense they talked i would be nothing but a fool to give them 25 euros.....

So the first sign was that when they asked me for 25 euros i informed her that i was a very experienced model for ten years and that i had no need to pay anybody to represent me. instantly she went into a rant about how good the conpany was and they were the best, began name dropping and more.

Firstly new models and people trying to work scams out.... Anyone that trys to sell to you very hard and keeps insisting they are the best over and over completely ignoring you(the prospective client) are FULL OF SHIT!!!

Moving on.... She then informs me i am 5 ft 8 to which i acknowledge her brain power in managing to accurately tell me my height which of course i found strange as i never did once give her my measurements as they were not requested.

So now clearly angered or frustrated at the fact i informed her i simply had no need of there world renowned services she decides to tell me they are the best for new models,,, but i am not new i tell her.. she then proceeds to tell me that i am not a model and i have little experience and that only people above 5 ft 8 inches are in actual fact models....

Basically says " who would ever work with you,, you are 5 ft 8"!!!

I found it funny they are trying to get me to pay and takle em on as management but shes now slandering me and informing me im too small to work........

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

So next some more name dropping and another speech why they are the best and top agency known to models on gods green earth. So by now i know this is a scam and im beginning to lose a little patience and so i decide to be rude to see if that works.

Before that i tell her i am a very well known porn star... to this she tells me porn is utterly degrading(please keep thisd part in mind or ul miss the laff later)

I then say i met richard branson in amsterdam trying to let her know im not some idiot that fell off the back of a wagon,, to this she says anyone can go to those events and put there arm around branson: lol lol lol

and apparently fitness models are all 6 ft 3 and u cant be a fitness model if your short.... someone should tell thisd lady who apparently knows the business well that shorter models are preferred for printing in magazines such as mens health, mens fitness etc etc and most fitness models are smaller,, most likely due to the fact we start to train younger than reccomended and end up shortening our spines a little bit... i guess biology to these people is like fire to the eskimos.

Next i tell her to fuck off and that she is wasting my time... instead of hanging up like expected she begins to tell me i am rude, disgusting and that i must understand how they work.

To this i tell her i could not give a fuck how they work and still she insists on selling this riduculous scam to me despite my vile and malicious speech.

Now to the emails afterward which i hope everyone will get a kick out of...

Please note the mannerisms and the language as it is universal to scammers and once you see one my trusty friends you have seen em all.

Avoiding questions that will clearly undermine there statements is one clear indication so you can imagine my shock at the first email they sent to me.

let me first write down the last words of the phone call!!!  smile

Nick: " Would you just fuck off and leave me alone, this is clearly a scam and i hate and would never work with parasites such as yourselves and even if i am wrong and this is legitemite i would never work with you since you have label'd me as too small,, not really a model and degrading by the fact i work in pornography"

Lyndsay from PMM

" Nick you are so rude and we would never work with you, i cannot believe how rude and arrogant you are being and will clearly not go anywhere in this industry"

Lyndsay then hangs up... well maybe as by this time i placed the phone next to my rather larger than normal studio monitor speaker throwing out some obnoxiously loud techno music

First email roughly ten secons after the phone call:

Dear Nick,

The only lists we are on are good ones and as per our previous e mail we are the NO1 company recommended by wiki, which we have NEVER spoken to, they are an independent governing body who search companies and report on them, ours and only two others are who they recommend to new models starting out and models who wish to expand their career to work internationally. A very good list to be on.

Competitors will always be silly, the fact they will not allow us the right to reply speaks volumes and therefore we have notified our solicitor whom is dealing with it, our services are superior to anyone else out there, we provide photo shoots, a personal service, advice, professionals 24/7 and more. As we said if you are looking for an agent do let us know, if not best of luck.

That is a competitor who will not give us the right to reply our solicitors are fully aware of this and dealing with it, it is untrue and defamatory and is the ONLY negative online, in fact Wiki recommend our company as the NO 1 Company to assist new models and models wishing to expand to other markets and countries. Competitors will always do silly things, we are confident in our services and provide a superior service which we are very proud of.

Once again we wish you the best of luck and would be a pleasure to assist you in the future if you do require our services, more especially in LA they have as discussed, fabulous commercial sections within their acting agencies but run as a separate department due to the volume. With that said, I take it you do have a working visa and therefore social security number to allow you to work in the US? If not again it is a service we provide.
