I don't have any tattoos, but have been thinking about getting one. My better half has 3... I'd say just get something you're not going to regret later in life and don't put anyones name on you (other than maybe children)

ArtisticPhotography wrote: This is cool. Jesus died and you entered a new covenant and extinguished the old one. But Jesus was Jewish, studied the Old Testament, he was a Rabbi and he clearly believed in Rabbinical Law. So you're saying that you don't believe that Jesus believed? You don't believe in the Old Testament. You don't believe in the 10 Commandments. But doesn't that mean that you don't truly believe in all of the New Testament and Jesus' teachings as well? Doesn't it mean that you've chosen to ignore what is inconvenient? How can you not believe in the Old Testament and still believe in Matthew 22:36-40, for example; which directly references the Old Testament? Seems like a pick-what-you-want smorgasbord, if you ask me. Get a tattoo if it's the cool thing to do. NEVER read the books of the new Testament Wow no I am not about to go into years of Bible study with you when this isn't even on topic. Stop thread jacking!

Injuries in basic training and tech school are extremely common and people get booted for serious stuff all the time. Hell, injuries in general are common. For example, I got my right shoulder literally RIPPED from the socket. Had to hide my injury to make it to permanent party. I see hip fractures, femur fractures, joint tears, and any other injury you can think of daily for one battalion of 600 people. Military is no joke, and I don't blame her at all.

If she said she was in the navy, and you asked her in sarcastically if she ever actually served active or have been on a boat, it is you trying to undermine her. Or at least it comes off that way. Now cut the sarcasm crap, because I was respectful to you. Her time in the service was likely around 2-3 months, but it doesn't matter. She stepped up.

It's my understanding that she barely made it out of boot, if at all. You can call me patronizing or undermining all you want. The fact that I was just honest about my understanding of the story doesn't prove either of those. I asked a direct question. I don't really know why YOU needed to jump to her defense, as my initial question had zero fucks to do with you. Patronizing would have been to say all that I asked, instead of asking it. But maybe you should let her fight her own battles, and answer for herself. But the best I could get so far was an offer of a PM, or a link to a different thread, which isn't an answer at all. As it is, this was just another attempt at attention. If she honestly felt she served her time, she would have the tattoo already, rather then begging masses for attention. THAT, was undermining.

You know what? It does have to do with me. I had a friend die in front of my face in basic from a bad heart. If he had found out about the injury that killed him and got out like her, he'd be alive today. I jump to her defense because its the right thing to do, and with my job, this shit infuriates me. Even if she didn't make it out of boot, she made it part way through. To me and many people I know, she still counts. And honestly? Her military duty is NONE of your business, and is way off topic. I advocate for fellow soldiers. I stand up for my own. Deal with it. Also, look up BATTLE buddy system. You'll get why I defend her. Also for your little add, she was just talking about a tattoo. Its not a big deal, so get over yourself.

Your questions were obviously sarcastic and unnecessary. And you responded belligerently to myself and the other person to reply to you. It is not on topic. She posted a thread about asking people about their stories of tattoos, not to get judged for why she is not in the navy anymore. And maybe think about a little respect, or at least PMing her to not derail her thread before you post. Because you haven't been there in boot camp or any other part of the military. I'm not saying be all patriotic, but at least don't treat her like garbage for it.

Lisa Andresen wrote: I am getting my first tattoo soon hopefully in February if all goes as planned! It will be going on my back on the right shoulder. I am getting an anchor for my time served in the Navy with Hebrews 6:19 under it "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure". It was a big part of my life and was a call from God that I answered. It didn't turn out how I thought it would but God's plan is better than my own, and I still learned so much from that experience I wouldn't change it at all knowing what I know now. What are some of your tattoos? What are the stories behind them? I would love to see pics =] Left arm: Koi fish at the top. My sons name is on my wrist. & a phoenix on the forearm. Koi's are amazing creatures & I love them. My sons name, well that's self explanatory. & the phoenix hits close to home. Right arm: 9 stars varying in sizes wrapping from my wrist to my shoulder. & my daughters name on my wrist. Kids name is obvious, but the stars were a spur of the moment thing & I've been stuck on stars since. Right foot: Some cute little tribal star. I was told by an ex if I got any more tattoos he was leaving me. Went to the shop the day he told me. LOL Right ribs: A custom designed tribal piece my husband drew for me. Takes up most of my ribs. Love it! Back: Upper neck I have a tribal butterfly - I thought it was pretty. 1st tattoo I ever got. Middle of my shoulder blades is my last name. I have a tribal girly tramp stamp. It looked pretty. On the side of my neck I have the word "Lucky" done. Sounded like a good idea at the time.

Not all personnel in the navy are on a boat for one. Secondly military just asks for rank usually, and most military would not ask such idiotic questions. Thirdly you would've mentioned it by now if you were. Lastly you'd not have disrespected me as I stood up for her. Your posts were easily sarcastic from a difference, and I'm not the only one who saw. But with that said, I'm done threadjacking. Sorry OP, I'm moving on.

These are the kind of threads that make me absolutely dissapointed in the site as a whole. The fact that grown adults get their jollies off at completely ganging up and shitting on someone then hop other threads and look down on others for bullying, or being closed minded. And the fact that this has gone on for 2 pages now. You guys are fucking dicks. Thumbs up to you too, MODS. Get all the tattoos you want, Lisa if they make you happy.

Quite simply, as a Jew, I take it as an insulting personal attack when the OP claims my faith's text is no longer accurate or relevant. Dead serious. I'd like a mod to put a stop to it. Again, not kidding.

Wow people. I don't post in any Lisa threads because I normally disagree with what she's saying, so I just decide not to say anything at all then starting an argument with her. But everyone has jumped on her from the very second she started this thread. I think its stupid that you're jumping all over her. None of you are any better than she is when she starts to preach to people and jump all over them. Lisa, to answer your question, I have two tattoos. The first one is on my hip http://nicolenudes.tumblr.com/image/33441651074 18+ I got it because I was raped when I was 11 and I spent a couple years in foster care with my sister. It symbolizes to me that I got through everything ok. And if I can get through that and be ok then I can get through anything. It's a reminder to me to stay strong when life starts to get hard. My second one is on the back of my neck http://nicolenudes.tumblr.com/image/27571754143 18+ Myself and my best friend have the same design. We got it together when we were on vacation. She's been my best friend since grade 9 and went through all the foster care bullshit with me. I love her like my sister.
