I'm a fine art photographer based in New York City, but I also do a fair amount of travel (often to Las Vegas). My primary interest in working with models is the fine art nude image in black & white. My work has been exhibited and published (see below) and you can see more of my images on my website (above).
I use film. That’s because I love film and the process of creating fine art prints in a darkroom, which is the ultimate goal of my photography. Digital cameras may be fine for commercial work where the bottom line rules supreme, but I believe that the process of creating art should be something more personal and more hands on.
I do not pay models with money. I already spend a lot on things like film, photographic paper and processing supplies (all of which are more expensive now), and as I am not a professional, I get little or nothing in return. Of course, models will be compensated in a different way. Some photographers like to e-mail photos to models or put them on a CD, but an e-mail with photos attached is not a work of art and neither is a CD with some computer files on it.
What I offer are original works of art. For each photo session, models will receive two exhibition grade 11 x 14 inch silver gelatin prints that I hand craft myself in the darkroom. None of them will be processed by a machine or printed out by a computer printer. I take pride in what I do and I believe that it shows in my prints.
Of course, I’ll also send scans from which the two prints will be selected. Reasonable travel expenses will be covered, too.
