Funny story about being too short for runway. I was invited to attend the go-see for this runway show put on by two bookers from Boss. It's a new faces show, but I'm only 5'7". Go figure. I'll be suprised if I'm chosen!

Anyone notice the closer we get to Fashion Week the more of these deluded individuals we have to deal with in the forums?

Do you mean the daughter of the owner of an international Japanese restaurant chain (father) and a designer (mother)? Nope... never heard of her! J/K First... Devon Aoki falls into the category of rich and famous/pedigree, which ALWAYS opens doors! Second... Have you even READ the definition of a haubbit? I don't think that Devon throws temper tantrums, insisting that she MUST be able to walk the major runways? The haubbit is not simply a short model... she is a DELUSIONAL model! Big difference. Btw... I shoot the "big time" fashion shows here in NYC... and I have NEVER seen a haubbit on the runway, EVER!

This is for all those models who are too short to qualify and are NOT known celebrities, who clinch to the belief that they too must be able to walk the big league in high fashion runway modeling, especially the superbowl of 'high fashion anything': NYC Fashion Week Three helpful threads about the subject don't awake those models out of their dream world and no matter how much is being explained from industry insider... they keep on chasing their own tail because some dude who shot them and their mama tell them that they belong on a major runway: Why runway shows need tall models: Why do short models insist of doin Runway? I'm laughing so hard I'm hyperventilating. ...and I remember the first topic with Chloe at myspace, wow! It was a much kinder and gentler discussion there, they don't call it Model Mayhem for nothing. I'm almost 6' and some model friends dwarf me, yes - the women. Especially my friend Darcie with her 4" faux hawk.

Amanda Kim wrote: sound like an attack... A runway model has everything to do with proportion and dimension. The minimum height for a standard woman's size is 5'7". There's a certain amount of inches needed for the center-back measurement. The shortest model on the majors circuit is Devon Aoki, she's 5'6" and started working with Nick Knight and Alexander McQueen at age 13 for Visionaire. There are celebrity models that are shorter as Udor stated in the opener. The average height for a print model is 5'9" - it's an average to match a 6' average tall male, these are only averages, runway models in major markets are often on the taller side. If you want to find out about average dimensions, scroll through any agency with a public roster and scan through the sizes, weights and heights on the stat sheets. See all of the size 2-4 models who are 5'9" doing runway, some taller - some an inch shorter, it only means they are on roster, not actually walking. View the averages. There are more technical dimensions when it comes to modeling and samples, but those are the basics above and it's too early to do minutia on the Mayhem. There's the technical reason.
