Space-4-Shoots is a rental photo studio in Greenwich Village, Manhattan (2 blocks from the West 4th Street subway) available for $20/hour.  Suitable for product, still life, portrait, and glamour photography and castings.

1,200 sq ft loft includes 10'x10' private "shooting tents" that can be closed or opened on to each other.

Rate is $20 per hour for shoot space rental that includes use of:

- a 10' x 10' "shooting tent" plus adjoining free space (such as another tent or up to the whole studio if no one else is shooting at the same time).  Typically photographers get at least a 10' x 20' space.

- lighting equipment (6 Calumet Genesis mono-lights; Elinchrom softboxes: 35" octa, 39" square,  two 20 x 51" strips, and 17" beauty dish; various umbrellas, Pocket Wizard triggers)

- couch, daybed/king bed, armchairs, chairs, and stools.

- collection of fabrics for sets, backgrounds, etc.

- bathroom, dressing, and make up station

- small kitchenette (sink, microwave, refrigerator)

- iMac station with 24" screen

- wifi

- sound system (MP3 player or wifi powered)

All the above is included in the $20/hour rental rate.

There's also 9' seamless paper (white, black, fashion gray, studio blue, primary red, and others by request). The charge is $1.25 per foot touching the floor (i.e. the amount discarded after the shoot).

I just saw the space today and wow.  the amount you get for the money you have to pay is amazing.  Thanks so much for offering a space like this.  Looking forward to many shoots there.

I have used this space 2x and can attest its a great setup. The staff is very focused on customer service and the space itself is very nice. Add the fantastic price and its win win all around.

For $20 per hour this place could have a staff of rabid circus monkeys and it would still be a bargain. Wish I was in NYC!

It certainly sounds like a good deal, but 10x10 is not a lot of space.

We like to under promise and over deliver.  No one has gotten less than a net of 12 x 20 shooting space so far...

How long is this price package good for?

And would that be possible for you to PM me the location, building and studio hours info or any other details I would need to know?

Thanks

I would like to rent this studio for Friday May 29th. I know it is short notice. The shoot would be from about 11 to 4.

Send me a message back as soon as possible, and let me know if this can happen
Thanks a bunch

The studio now has a regulation size table tennis/ping pong table.  Photographers, if you find yourself waiting for a model in makeup (or to show up), we can play a game or two...

What, can't parse more than 21 characters at a time?

It says "a 10' x 10' "shooting tent" plus adjoining free space".

No one has gotten less than a 10' x 20' shooting area to date...

I was laughing at the whole idea of a 'shooting tent'. Too funny!

EDIT: It just dawned on me that you're catering to a specific type of photographer.

Price is very good no doubt, but 10x10 or for that matter even 10x20 is not that much of space.
I'm considering my 11x14 studio very small, and it significantly limits me at times in terms what I can do with lighting setups. Do you have 20x20 tents? And how private are your "private tents"? How much would be to rent whole studio?

The full studio is 30' x 40' clear open loft space.  When we say 10 x 20 we don't mean a room with walls that size, but usage of an area within a larger space, which means wardrobe happens outside your shoot area and bags, equipment, etc. too.  Lights can extend outside your space if you don't want to draw the tent curtains.

The tents have light blocking tops and side curtains.  Visually they can be completely private.

Renting the whole studio is $40/hour.

Come check out the space or get an invite to the studio's next networking party later this month.

Ah, OK, its explains it better! Most of my shots done with side and back lighting. For that reason I looking for studio to shoot some payd gigs that I won't be able to shoot in mine. If lighting could be set outside of tent it should work.

I'm most certainly would do both! Please PM me info about your networking party!

Want a free hour of shoot time at Space-4-Shoots?  Next time you have a shoot there, play and beat the studio manager at ping pong (best of 3 games) and you'll get a free hour of studio shoot time!

Open to photographers, models, and MUAs while at a shoot in the studio.
