Well Craig, this is a pretty good idea, and I would love to help you out here, however I have a one caveat.

If 12 models contact me in a month, I am only selecting the one that will meet my criteria. The rest will basically go to the circular file. If I wasn't interested in shooting them the first time, why would I waste my time on them the following month? I'll just "reset" my count and start over the following month. If that is fine by you, then count me in.

creating a pool of models to have a few photographers shave the cream or whom they see as the cream off the top is probaly not the idea and helps noone except the photographer doin the scrapping.

"THE LIST" is not for everyone. Please consider this before submitting your name.

I will not select anyone who's terms fall outside of those already stated in the original post.

If someone helped you get started and you want to "give it forward", this may be your opportunity to do so.

If that is the case I shall opt out of this. I shoot enough test for agencies.

It's my time and talent. I am not going to waste it on those whom I don't think have a chance in this industry simply because someone on the internet wishes me to.

None of us can afford to waste our time and talent and we can't expect everyone will be able to invest themselves in this way. We all contribute to the community when and where we can and everyone should stay focused on their path.

Sandy, if your situation changes down the road and you decide you'd like to get involved here, "THE LIST" will always be open to you.

Thank You Craig. As I said, I'd be willing to join, but only if it is of mutual benefit to me. If at any time this changes I'll let you know. I wish you and the others success with this.

I don't do TFP, so if i engaged in this project then that's me giving back, but just because i give back doesn't mean that i think i should do it without exercising standards that i deem fit for my port and my make up artists port.

I see your point, but we are doing something a little different here. If you're on "THE LIST" you aren't necessarily shooting for your port, nor is the MUA or anyone else involved. You are all shooting for the newbie model's port. You're giving us a chance to see, and the model a chance to show, what he/she is really capable of doing in the lens of a competent photographer. If you're on "THE LIST" moving personal feelings about the model's chance of future success aside, you're giving newbie models at least a fair chance to show us what they've got, and in order to do that you should give it your best effort, keeping standards high.

Sorry I didn't get the list completely updated before bedtime. I stopped forward progress with "A Black Swan" who made "The Top Drawer", congrats~! I'll get back on it after a few hours of sleep.

Give it a few more days and it will be polished and smooth. smile

If you haven't checked out "The 2nD LIST" thread yet, check it out~!!  Goodnight all.

Brian Ziff has agreed to work up several new emblems similar to the "Winner" emblem he designed for "Your Picture of the Day". These emblems will be given to all "list" members to post on their profile page with a link back to the "list" threads.

I'm editing "THE LIST" right now from the bottom up so if you see inconsistencies I know they are there and should have everything finished up in about an hour. Thanks for your patience.

I didn't know if you were aware that almost half of the thumbnails aren't showing up.  You just get the red "x" box with the url.  They might be showing up on yours but not everyone else's. I'm glad to be part of this.  Thank you.

Looking for a fix on it. They're all showing on my screen so I didn't know. Thanks.

I noticed the ones that show seem to all have "http://thump01.pbase.com..." at the start of the url, and the ones that don't show, "http://i.pbase.com..." Hope that helps.

*edit...nevermind, looks like you fixed it.

I think this is the best explanation of the concept of this list I have seen.  If a photographer doesn't have the time, or gives back in other ways, I personally don't think they are being selfish, I just think it isn't for them.  This is pure volunteerism, participate in the program because you feel it's something you'd like to do, and if not, that's fine.  Even the people in this thread who have had issues, have stated them in intelligent and respectfull manners, and I commend everyone here for keeping this a positive undertaking.  Now let's please translate that into practice when the actual process begins, and who know's, a star may be found!  smile
