I have to say (and I'm sorry Craig) but when the votes these people are getting are all from people in their own state and they only have 1 - 10 post count in the forums...I would say things are questionable.

This is why I stopped playing in here because once the contest went site wide there were just too many questionable wins.  hmm

I often contemplate whether to voice and opinion or not publicly but I agree with LDP and so on. However...I think most of the frustration can be avoided with Photographer Of The Week and Pic Of The Day if there was a category breakdown or split. Artistic and Conceptual versus Glamour. We will all find that most photographers here on MM are one or the other (in my opinion). There is just too many amazing photographers in the world to have 1 category (or genre) for a contest. I understand if you open one can of worms it will just turn into another but from a conceptual photographer that has never won after countless submissions, always coming in 2nd, 3rd or 4th to a Glamour photo...it gets frustrating to say the least. I respect any and all artists here on MM whether photog or model and everyone has a different view on life...but there's my 2 cents. Is what it is I guess.

anyone who got their regional friends to post for the first or 1100 time and vote for them..congradulations..its a great testomony to your work. also maybe if you condemn vote stacking on here maybe you'll get away with it wink.
right.. not a single vote..I must really suck lol...ah well..I'll go on and take pluming and hopefully customers will apreciate my pluming skills..last time on here. hasta la vista.

Apparently there is no winner...  Lots of hostility today sad

Here are some notable quotes for everyone:

"It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell."
Buddha

"An accusation is enough to destroy a person's life. Hysteria trumps evidence."
Carol Tavris

"When one person makes an accusation, check to be sure he himself is not the guilty one. Sometimes it is those whose case is weak who make the most clamour"
Piers Anthony

So much for drama free...

No votes for me either. Though last week I got a second place finish in this contest for the first time, thanks to the vote stacker infestation. Must've spread here from the POTD and 18+POTD that're hosted by Model Mayhem.

I would say we are all winners in this situation.. Just by us submitting our work we are taking the jead and not following and this is what we de, we are on the cutting edge of art.

Just my 2 cents

I'm not naming names here... but it's a DEAD GIVEAWAY of vote stacking when you have models voting for you who's photos you've entered in the weekly contest... especially when they only have a couple of forum posts in almost 3 years of membership... wink

This is why I hesitate to move these contests to the main infrastructure as we did the Potd and Potd 18+. We don't get the interaction in those contests anymore. In the forum format we're more like "reality tv" and we all like that right? wink

OK, here's the deal once again. All I need is a heads-up in my mailbox that there might be vote stacking going on. This is like a call to the FBI. No need for anyone to go public at this point. After we get the call, we send an agent in to the field, sometimes me, as is the case tonight, and we investigate these allegations.

Sometimes we can't find any solid evidence of vote stacking at all, period.

Sometimes we find evidence of stacking very easily, as in newbies generally just don't read the rules. Sometimes it's more difficult to find evidence even when things just don't look right; yes, some of our vote stackers have been around awhile and have learned how to mask the trail by soliciting only people not directly associated with their profiles. We're seeing more facebook solicitation these days as well and we have eyes everywhere so before a contest ends we most likely are aware of what's going on.

We take our competitions seriously and we're determined not to allow cheaters to win, even if they didn't know they can't cheat here like do and are even encouraged to do on their "other" sites where incoming traffic is valued over the integrity of competition.

At the end of each competition we can honestly say that we've done all we can do to keep the playing field level.

With all that being said, let's relax and let me do my job here so we can declare a winner and move on to the next BIG THING~ our "MM Photographer of the Year"!!

And all who have submitted entries here will have to resubmit your entries on or after January 11th for them to be recognized....and here's the BIG RED BANNER again. wink

I've concluded my investigation of our top contender's votes and have determined that many of them are suspicious. I speculate that several mm members on his friend's list may have contacted their friends in an effort to help this contestant win the competition but I sincerely believe that our contestant had no prior knowledge that his votes were being solicited in this way. For this reason I regret to have to DQ his very artful entry as being non-compliant with Rule #4 of this competition.

I have pressing commercial business to attend to today and will return later this afternoon to continue by closely scrutinizing the votes received by our runner up. I regret that this necessary process has delayed the announcement of this week's winner but it's something we must do to maintain the integrity of this important competition.

Tonight we will launch our "MM Photographer of the Year" competition and voting will commence immediately upon our presentation of the composite of all our weekly winners for 2010.

Thanks for your participation!!

Thank you to all who participated this past year in making the Model Mayhem weekly contests the best there are~!! This has been a great learning experience for all of us as we strive to bring the challenges of creative competition to the MM community. We feel the rewards and benefits to all who observe and participate can't be measured, but we know they are great. Looking back on the year 2009, we will take the things we did right and the things we did that at times went wrong, and from this new experience we'll make these competitions even better for all in this new year of 2010. Thanks to all who have contributed with enthusiasm and support, so much to our pioneering efforts in co-creative competition.

Note: The banners above are from our 2009 competition final as we again honor our previous winners!

Start of the MM Photographer of the Year is delayed as we found some holes in the composite that need to be filled. We surely don't want to leave anyone out so we'll get this contest rockin asap!!
