Hairy arms?
ChanStudio - OtherSide wrote: I don't agree that hairy arms are like hairy legs. In this century arm hair is perfectly acceptable, and leg hair on women is generally shunned. The gap between them is enormous. Jan 10 09 04:57 pm Link theda wrote: I know I'm replying to an old post, but I think I love you now. Jan 10 09 05:00 pm Link btw, I just looked through Cosmopolitan and Flare - a lot of models arms have some fuzz on them (visible in light) I don't think you should shave if its light or blonde or doesn't contrast with your skintone Jan 10 09 05:04 pm Link lock and key wrote: I didn't say all women have to shave their arms. I am saying that if someone has thick and hairy arms (i.e. pale skin model with dark thick hairy arms), that person should shave for any photo shoot that involves lingerie, swimsuit etc. Photo retouching hair is extremely time intensive. Plus, those hair arms hide all those skin textures. Jan 11 09 08:27 am Link I think some photographers care about this, and some do not. Bleaching arm hair is always an option as well. Jan 11 09 09:01 am Link I shaved my arms for a shoot, it helped it out quite a bit. I think it depends on the shoot and the style of the model and the photographer. This thread is showing there is an infinite amount of variation and no rules. Jan 11 09 09:07 am Link I have dark thick hair, but my arm hair is very very fine. You can't see it in most lighting. I shaved them once in middle school, it took too long and I had a hard time reaching all the spots on my arms. I never did it again. I think it makes my arms feels softer because there is a tiny layer of soft fuzz over them. :] Jan 11 09 02:59 pm Link as a photog , here is my take..... about 15 yrs ago, girls would shave just up to about half-thigh, and, in the summer when eveyone(most) had a good tan, it looked sexy. i have shot with models that had dark hair on the arm, and mentioned that they should get a 'hair lightner' so that it looks more natural, as in the summer. girls arm hair will naturally bleach out easily(most girls) in the summer, from exposure to the sun. it WILL NOT bleach from being in a tan bed, no matter how long you go. i personally like a girl with a little blonde 'peach-fuzz' on her body. it's a sexy look thing, and in my opinion, is a soft/texture thing on a girl/model. i have even told a couple of models, not to shave the arm, just get the lightner stuff, and they really liked the way it did. well just my thoughts, anyone else???????.......... Jan 11 09 03:09 pm Link Models who have gorilla arm hair know who they are and shave accordingly...or they just don't get booked. Jan 13 09 03:18 am Link How hairy are we talking here? like peach fuzz so it doesn't really show. Or more so on the wookie side? Jan 13 09 04:57 am Link Connor Photography wrote: My legs are pretty hairless but my arms aren't so yes, I do have *horrible* hairy arms. Jan 13 09 09:38 am Link Jan 13 09 12:12 pm Link MinisterC wrote: Ugh...nope. It's up to the photographer to have the girl do it if it bothers the photographer. Or simply hire a different girl. And tell the first guy why. Or don't tell her. As to me, frankly, as Rhett Butler famously told Scarlett O'hara, "I don't give a damn." Jan 13 09 12:17 pm Link In some cultures women depilate their ENTIRE bodies, including arms. It's a matter of taste, and in paid shoots, a matter of what the photographer and client want. The "they'll grow back thicker ohmygawd" thing is a wives' tale. It's worth it - trust me. Jan 13 09 12:27 pm Link Pixel Frame Studios wrote: I did it once, because I hate razors (please people don't to that to yourself, don't use razor on arms or you'll be condamned to shave your arms costantly ). Jan 13 09 12:28 pm Link Pixel Frame Studios wrote: If it's hairy, please do so! LOL. Jk. Jan 13 09 12:58 pm Link Yeah, my hairy arms totally RUINED this 18+ picture. Look at all those nasty lists and comments- they think I'm hideous! Jan 13 09 03:47 pm Link I used to have a friend who shaved her arms...one day she was helping her little brother load something into the car, and he suddenly started jumping around and yelling. Turns out her arm had brushed against his, and her arm stubble actually drew blood. Jan 13 09 05:56 pm Link My arm hair was really thick and dark, so I started shaving. It looks a lot better without hair, though I would love to have really light thin hair on my arms! Jan 13 09 06:59 pm Link Connor Photography wrote: Hair hair! Long sexy beautiful hair - EVERYWHERE! I love it! Jan 13 09 07:04 pm Link i shave my arms, ive thought about getting lazer removal on them but ive had 7 treatments on my armpits and the hair still comes back and you still have to shave inbetween treatments its also very exspensive. Jan 13 09 08:08 pm Link right then... so here is a valid question: Are there any female models who don't shave or wax their hairy arms, and are interested in paid work to promote the subject of natural beauty? Apr 20 09 06:26 pm Link Raelyn Monstrosity wrote: Apr 20 09 06:28 pm Link i personally HATE having hair on my body so I shave it all off, or wax, or use a depilatory of some sort to get rid of it. I don't typically notice on other people unless it's obvious. I just don't like touching my own skin when it's furry. Which is weird because I love my men hairy. Apr 20 09 06:35 pm Link Connor Photography wrote: One time, this model, who was so hairy, from head to toe, that she looked like a wolfman wanted to shoot, I asked her if she would trim her hair a bit, at least shave her beard, but she just howled at me and told me no, the hair stays. Apr 20 09 07:37 pm Link I shave mine. Apr 20 09 07:40 pm Link i wax my tattooed arm sometimes as i don't like the hair on there, even the shine from the fine blonde hairs makes the pictures less effective... but that's just my opinion. i don't think it really matters. unless it's a cold location where hair can be gross coupled with goosebumps! xx Apr 20 09 08:01 pm Link Luccia wrote: Miss Fifi wrote: Quoting because more people need to hear this. It's SUCH a persistent myth. Apr 20 09 08:08 pm Link I posted about this once and didn't get any replies. I thought my hairy arms had to go. Glad to finally have some confirmation. I used to shave when I was younger but hate the constant stubble and shaving. I think I'll try bleaching it for now...until I become rich and can just laser it off. lol. Apr 21 09 04:41 am Link I used to shave my arms, but not anymore. my hair is really dark and thick too... my arms are soft anyways! take it or leave it. Apr 21 09 08:58 am Link I have some shots from a shoot that I feel were perfect...had she shaved her arms... it wasn't enough to be noticed regularly but when I uploaded the pics they were distracting. I was highly peeved. Apr 21 09 09:01 am Link I really hope shaved arms doesn't become the new standard fad for women in society. The only thing less attractive than really hairy arms are arms with stubble, and red blotchy ingrown hairs. Apr 21 09 09:05 am Link I am very pale with BLACK hair I have been shaving my legs since 4th grade and my arms since 6th grade. and the rest of my body since middle school I will soon invest in a lot of laser hair removal I hate body hair on women. but I like my men hairy Apr 21 09 09:13 am Link denisemc wrote: My arm hair doesn't grow back stubbly like my legs do. Apr 21 09 09:15 am Link I have hairy arms and used to shave them in HS because I was embarrassed. Now I realize the beauty of myself the way I am and only alter them if I feel so inclined. Apr 21 09 11:56 am Link i shave my arms everyday one day i will invest in full body laser hair removal make my life SO much easier Apr 22 09 08:39 pm Link |
