I want to thank all the players & participants in the Pic of the Day 18+ contest over the last 2 years (almost exactly!) for all the wonderful time I've gotten to spend working with you.

Craig Seay opened the contest on October 17th 2007, and I worked with him from day 1 on a gallery of the winners and moderation, before fully taking over moderation of the contest shortly afterwards.

When Internet Brands re-did the contest earlier this year I was happy with their decision to let me stay on board and I've enjoyed every minute of the several hours a day I put in to the contest.  I've gotten to work with some great people behind the scenes, had fabulous interactions with the players, and gotten to see some amazing photos.

Internet Brands has decided that, in order to keep moderation on MM more consistent, all further contest moderation must be handled by site staff, so as of today, 2 years and 4 days after helping launch the contest, I have to say goodbye.  Miguel has asked for my input on updating & clarifying the rules to make things easier for players to follow, I plan to send those in as my last act as part of the contest.

I will for now be maintaining the incomplete winner's gallery from the original contest:
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/090309/18/49b5c4db6efe6.jpg

That's always been something I've maintained myself as a "thank you" to the community.  If IB and MM wish to take that over & make it a site feature I will turn my archive of winning images over to them, if not I'll see about finally getting it updated and keep it up as long as I have my website.  I'll ask IB about linking to it if they don't want to post it here.

Here's a look back at the history of the contest:
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7

And here's the future:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/potd_18plus.php

I plan to keep viewing & voting on all the great submissions, so I hope to see you all there.

So thanks once again for all the great times, all of you players are the real heart of the contest & you've made this a great 2 years in my life!

Thank you!!!!!!!!!

James,

I know how much time and energy it takes to administer one of these contests. The participants could not thank you enough for your efforts. People like Craig, Tom, Blue Ash, yourself and others, have given the MM community countless hours of time and much effort.

I'll never forget that, and I thank you for it.

James, the powers that be and most of the players will never understand how much of your life, blood, sweat, and tears you have poured into the contest through a labor of love.  Thanks from the bottom of my heart for the selfless devotion.

James,

As someone who has interacted with you, as contest moderator, on a regular basis, let me thank you for all the hard work you've put in on this contest.

I hope that the site is able to keep the contest going in the same fashion, after your departure and am pleased to read that you fully intend to stay a part of the contest, on a regular basis, albeit on the other side of the "curtain."

Again, I think I can sincerely say, on behalf of all of us who regularly participate in the POTD 18+, . . . .THANKS!!!!

It says a lot about your character that you will continue to give input after all that has happened.

It will be interesting to see what the future brings.

I really don't want to see any negativity or site issues brought up in this thread.  The contest, for me, has always been about doing something for the community, which I love dearly.  That's why I'm more than happy to work with IB/MM on an update of the rules to make things easier for players to understand & to make moderation of the contest easier.

My only purpose posting this was to thank the community for letting me do this for them as long as I was able.  smile

D'oh!  Sigh.

You are a great man for doing something not required of you that benefit so many people.

Kudos!

Nah, just someone who wants to help out.  The site's all about the members, and there're a LOT of great volunteers among them who work to keep the community going.  I was only one of them.  I intend to keep doing what I can by giving IB feedback on the rules, helping out with the gallery, and being part of the forums here 'cause it's all about the community.  smile

It figures that now that you'll finally have five or six hours a day of free time, I'm back in Georgia and unable to take advantage of it.

>.<

Thank you for moderating the POTD18+ for so long.  I know that some nights it drove you mad, but you were always gracious about responding to and fulfilling your responsibility to the contest.

I understand.

It was meant to be a compliment and a hope that the contest will continue to go as smoothly as it always had, but I can see that I may not have worded it well.

You did a great job, James.  At the contest (I assume you won't be leaving MM, right?), your presence will be missed.

(edited to remove negativity...you're right, bud.  Not the right time or place.)

Thanks for the hard work You put in James, and if you need a body guard when you cash that fat check from IB - you can count on me!

Y'know what?  The hell with it...you were good for that contest!!

Even tho I'm sorely underqualified to compete, it felt good knowing the contest was being ran by you.   It sucks that this happened, and the contest will suffer for it, almost making me glad I don't participate.  Bad move, MM.  Just another in the many list of weird things going on around here...  I know you asked for the negativity to not be a part of this, but it needs to be said.

This just sucks.

(Edit:  Wow, that came out all venomy and stuff...I'm madder than I thought.  Can I not be brigged for having an angry opinion, plz? lol)

Fair winds and following seas! This place was built by people who cared about the membership, and hopefully the people who pick up the mantle will remember and carry forward that legacy.

Greg,

May I suggest you edit your post?

You may be within site posting rules in saying what you've said, but it hardly seems appropriate.

James came in here, in a very classy fashion.  He offered a factual message and a sincere "Adios" (or, at least, a sincere "Hasta Lavista")
He did not come across as bitter and I respect him for saying what he is saying and in the manner in which he is saying it.
Please do not make this dramatic where it needn't be.

Moderator Warning!
James,
As one of Site Mods that will be stepping in to help moderate the MM Contests, I would just like to take a moment to thank you on behalf of the Mod Team, for all the hard work you have put into the contests over the years.

Without your dedication and the numerous long hours you have put in behind the scenes, the POTD 18+ contest would not be the resounding success it is today.
While much of your work with the Contest may have gone unsung, it has certainly not gone unnoticed.
You are leaving a large pair of boots to fill and those of us that are stepping up to help, will do our utmost to maintain the high standards you have set for us to follow.

Your work with the contests, stands as a fitting testament, were one ever needed, of your love for and dedication to, this site and it's members.
Now, as you reluctantly entrust it to others hands, we in turn will make every effort to ensure it's continuing success and popularity and carry it forward as part of your personal Legacy within our community.

Thank you, from all of us.

James,

I believe it was about a year and a half ago I first saw the thread for the 18+ contest. I started entering because of the interaction I witnessed in the accompanying discussion thread and how each original contest member was willing to help, offering suggestions and comments that would improve and help the others. You personally took time, beyond the contest to encourage me and I sincerely wish to thank you very much.  You are an inspiration of dedication. Thank you so much for the tireless hours of service and consistency and the honorable way with which you have officiated  this contest. We as participating members have gained many friendships and much pleasure from it. You have been the face and voice of the POD 18+ contest for as long as it has existed and I am sure that I can speak for all of the members in saying that James, you will be sorely missed as contest mod and we all greatly appreciate your efforts on our behalf!

Thank You Again James!

James, I know how it feels to be bumped out of something you've invested your heart and countless hours in to, so I feel you brother.

Chin up dude.. you have your very own networking site with a Potd 18+ contest that totally rocks, including a gallery and features second to none~!!

Just throw yourself 100% now in to your own site and it's image contests, knowing that your dismissal here will work to benefit those who network and play there.
