Rate your success with MM 1-10.

1 being poor

I will start this with a 4.5

EDIT: I only say 4.5 cause I have met some nice people, who are now friends.

less than 5, models who do not show or answer request for paid work. The site should delete anyone who has not been active for a period of 6 to 8 months. Those of us who actually shoot for magazines and make a living With a camera and are  truly interested in securing models for paid professional shooting suffer from the amount of crap thrown around by guys looking for dates. So many models on here are Leary of who is and who is not Leggett, they are afraid to trust a sincere request for work.

I don't use this site to book models for commercial shoots.  I use it to find models looking to be a part of trade shoots so they can update/increase their portfolios.

I have had the odd cancellation/no show etc., but for the most part the experience has been very positive and I have met many wonderful people(photographers, MUAs, models etc.) through this site who are looking to shoot for fun.

6. A lot of models I met here did fantastic, but I've run into a LOT of flakes and prima donnas as well. Still, more than half of the stuff in my port are by model I met on this site.

Depends on "success at what?"

But, maybe 8?  9?

I have successfully made real friends off of this site. That alone counts for a richness in life.
_Mini   (Axium???)  changed my ways and was the first model to offer , rather insist to come and shoot. Ever since many have, for which I am grateful.

So for me it is a grand success.

At least a 9.

9.  I've improved my photography a lot with the shoots I've set up through this site, and I have also made a lot of friends.  Plus the forums are entertaining sometimes.

I'd say 7 or so. You're always going to get last minute cancellations, people not showing up, family/relatives/friends/cousin's brother's ex-fiance's godmother's daughter who get sick or die, but it's life and there are always going to be those unmotivated or flake out.

I would say about two. sad

Out of my 27 shoots four were booked through Model Mayhem. Some of the models on Model Kartei (including my avatar) have MM profiles, but I booked them through MK.

I am going to say a 7.5 so far.

I have met some truly lovely people thanks to MM and i have made some really great friendships too. I have had a few disaster shoots and photographers cancelling etc but tha happens!

I have had shoots with a few photographers from MM. I have gained experience and confidence through said shoots. I do have some nice images too, not aaamazing images but still nice.

I have shoots coming up over the next few months with awesome photographers i met on MM so i hope to have the aaamazing images too! So once i have built the portfolio i want, i will be rating it alot higher!

I've been on here a year almost. I think it is a great place to meet and work with creative people. Seeing other peoples work and talent shine through as they explore their craft is pretty damn cool!...I met a lot of good people, learned lots! The forums are hilarious to say the least.  I would give this site a 8+.

It has it's issues but those are certain individuals not the site. You have to remember you are dealing with younger people, many with no real life or work experience. So the "no shows" are expected - at least I expect it. It's normal behavior for a kid.

Only been around about a month and so far I'd give it a 7.

I've had some cancellations and moves happen, a couple were last minute but since it was for the pre-meeting that wasn't a big deal and both were before I left my house.

I've also had three very good shoots and I've got about 3 more lined up. For my business I shoot lots of portraits, family stuff and the occasional lingerie shoot for the housewife looking for a special present for the hubby so having the freedom to explore different kinds of themes and shoots with models is truly appreciated.

I have met a couple of real flakes as well as about a dozen "cellphone models" but I've also met two women that are so talented I'd be happy to do nothing but shoot them. Thats a fair trade in my book.

I have met plenty of quality photographers through MM. smile Have Got allot of artistic images through MM. The reason it isn't a 10 is the flake rate. Not as high as CL but much higher than my other methods.

paid work 11

staying booked 9
MM is so easy, it makes me lazy. LOL My other methods are allot more work to round up work. As far as new work I get 70% from MM. Traveling work 75% As far as average all around work 40% Most of my work comes from word of mouth from past photographers and repeat work.

Quality Artistic creative 7

MM is a great site. Sure there are things it needs. But for a all around one size fits all, its awesome. Other sites don't even have the fraction of the traffic and exposure. I have seen better ideas come up, but never get off the ground.

I got allot of work off here through retouching 2-3 years ago, started off my photography decently , aswell as my modelling currently smile

I'm not even half as successful as I'd want to be in the future, but MM has definitely been a good for me.

Somewhere round 5.

Have met nice, serious people on here, and some local to me as well.
The latter was kind of unexpected. big_smile

However, there are many that;
-does not answer requests
-does not honor their appointments
-claim they are way more experienced than they are
-demand payment way over what their service is worth

I guess some weed me out because they don't want to work with me. That's actually all OK, just tell it to my face if I as you to shoot and you don't want to. I can take it. big_smile

But all in all, I'm good with being on here.

2 - with casting call success.  I get much better responses elsewhere.

5 - getting models overall - About half my models come from MM.

8 - Forum use.

10 - Return on membership fee.

There should be some automatic deletion of profiles after a longer period of inactivity. (Or at least the profile should be hidden from public until the person log in again.) There are people on here that have not logged in for years...

Not looking to make friends from here, tho I enjoy some forum chat.  The flakes & no-shows in addition to the large amount of users who have been inactive for several years does ruin it.  I'll have to use the Last Activity feature more when searching, can't tell you how many times I've nearly contacted someone to set something up, and noticed they last logged in in 2009 or something. They should just be deleted tho I'm sure they like to keep them to increase their "Gross amount of users" for advertising purposes.

That said, scheduling is hit or miss.  Paid or TF I find only a small difference in interest level & flakes.  Even during scheduling & communication some talent comes off as ridiculous in their demands and negotiations (give em an inch & they'll ask for a mile). However, I've occasionally tried & viewed my local Craigslist Talent section & its ridiculously overrun with "Nude girl wanted" and "POV adult actress needed" by creeps looking to recreate their porn viewing habits. So the alternates have become limited.

*I'd say a 9...I've met all models needed thru this site for both fashion shows and photoshoots, with only maybe 3 flakes in total(which is rare), gotten paid gigs, as well as met some Great people thru MM...overall...a *Pretty Positive* experience..!!!

I'll blame part of it on being 100 miles from anywhere that has any serious models.

My success with MM has been top knotch You make of theis site what you do best if not it just becomes a site to see pretty things. My gripe has been over the moderators who some times take their job with an Overpowering effect and just go nuts with Power other than that This site is top of the line.

Put my TFP in the MINUS column!
Every TFP has flaked or disappeared while emailing back and forth!

I would say a 10 for the wonderful models that I have talked to about hiring them (until my finances went South).***

Every one of those models were friendly and professional!
