Look for Casting Calls in your area and/or place an Availability Notice. Click on the 'casting/travel' tab. And read all the suggested homework.  Good Luck.

You can't really model without parental consent, and you will be limited in what kinds of modeling you can do as a minor.

There are great photogs in LA, not to mention the LA Fine Arts Center, photo students, that you can shoot with, assuming you resolve the above. You need not be looking for an amateur photog, to test with. There are plenty of folks who will test you, if you have the right look, right size, etc.

I've never heard this before.   Is that a law in her state?   Curious because I see people under 18 taking photos all the time without parental consent.   The OP should and could work with amateur photographers as she is not standard agency height.   Please do return and educate me on the law that says that photographers can't photograph models under 18 though.

I think you are referring to the fact that she can't sign a model release since she is a minor, however, that doesn't prevent her from modeling for anyone if she so chooses.

You are right though that she would not be able to model for 18+ adult-type content.

You can take a picture of anyone at any age without parental consent in a public place. HOWEVER...

1. A photographer shooting a model without having the model sign a release is pretty stupid.

2. A photographer shooting a model without providing any form of usage rights documents is about as stupid as #1.

3. Both #1 and #2 require the signer to be above the age of majority. (http://icpcstatepages.org/california/ageofmajority/)

4. The OP is not above the age of majority.

5. Since #4, the OP will require a parent or legal guardian to sign on her behalf.

All of the above and I would not shoot a under 18 model without a legal guardian present all of the time.

Welcome to the Mayhem hienvy

Good ways to network are:

Post an availability notice letting people know that you are available (under the casting/travel tab). This is for when you want to charge money. You can offer trade as well.

Search for Casting Calls in your area based on criteria you select. Post a Casting Call letting people know about an idea you have and want to put into a work of art. This is for when you are willing to pay other people. You can offer trade as well.

Search or Post Casting Calls and Travel/Availability Notices
Official Casting Call Rules - Read
Find the talent and resources you need on Model Mayhem

Browse for photographers in your area and leave comments on images you like, send a friend request or message. Start a list of photographer's photos that you think are top notch for photographers in your area. This can become something of a Rolodex. Make sure that you select the Advanced Options and select an appropriate Logged in within:. I typically use 30 days, but you may want people who respond faster. Otherwise you will get photographers who haven't logged in in over a year. There are a lot of inactive accounts.

Make an announcemnet. Look on the front page for members offering comments for comments, and comment on their photos. Also make an announcement yourself.

Post a bulletin by going to My stuff > bulletins. Friends can see the bulletins you post.

Be active in the forums, but avoid trolls who start threads just to watch the ensuing flame war. Avoid threads that beat the deadhorse over GWC's, flakes, escorts, ..., etc. Make positive constructive comments. Whenever you get published, add some new photos, or accomplish anything in general, post an announcement in the Accomplishments, Achievements and High Fives forum. When people see your forum post the first thing they see is your avatar. It has to be interesting enough for them to want to click on it and look at your portfolio.

Share your other accounts on the Social Media User Name Sharing Thread.

Rinse and repeat.

Good luck in your search!

I generally don't work with -18 models unless they're senior pictures, but I will say you're very pretty. Good luck with your modeling.

You will find a lot of good information here...and some...well I'll just say "take it with a grain of salt"

I would FIRST direct you towards your image page..there you will see a red Avoid Scams thingy...press it...and read and digest everything you can...this world is full of butt wipes who have nothing better to do than scam good, honest, and hardworking people.

The next thing I would do is conduct a search of MM using search criteria for: photographer by state, zip code, and shooting genres. That should help. When engaging/contacting the candidate photographers were I you, I'd make it VERY plain that you're under the age of consent, you can't LEGALLY sign any contract/agreement and held responsible for it, and finally..that if you should agree to a shoot with a photographer...you should ALWAYs have an escort...and if the photog isn't ok with that...walk..no scratch that...run away. There really is NO defense for not allowing an escort/chaperone for an under age model. (no disrespect)

And finally...something TOTALLY off topic...Back when I was a hippy...a VERY long time ago...I had a blue dodge van just like the one in your images...lol...

You can do a shoot with someone under 18. But as a minor, she can't sign a legally binding model release, or a shoot agreement that covers what she gets out of the shoot (number of images, any usage rights, etc.). A legal guardian will also need to sign it. To shoot without a release just leaves you open for potential problems later.

EDIT: I didn't notice before posting that what I said was already covered.

Models under 18, are considered a minor. Minors cannot contract.......in other words, they cannot legally sign a model release without a parent or guardian. It's NOT binding. They also cannot do revealing work, by LAW!

I recommend you read the book Photography and the Law. You can make a passel of trouble for yourself, without a decent working knowledge of how the law impacts what you do, as a photographer.
