Many of you have noticed that those hurt most by this natural disaster have been the poor, old and lets face it Black. Some of this was due to where and how we live and some due to a government that has less value for its darker people. I'm not saying that most Americains hate or fear us they just don't value us, unless you can throw a football or play basketball or tennis I would say golf but Tiger doesn't quite count. Singing or dancing gets you lots of love acting too maybe modeling but regular Black folks? Black folks stealling were called looters. White folks were called resoucefull. Which gets me to this, unless we take a real true look as a people at how we are shown on T.V. in magazines, news and videos unless we (insert Black folks now) truly face a culture which values no education, gangsters and getting rich or die trying. We will all suffer. That includes those Americians who don't value us. No soap box I'm not an expert.

Excellent reply. Race and poverty seem to have played a big part in New Orleans. Intresting its mostly White folks who ask 'why is race a problem?' or 'why is everything a Black and White issue?' Untill you live it you don't really know it. Aye provide. Nice photos...

Love it or hate that is American folks but that doesn't mean everyone behaves in such backward manner. what'd they use to say back when? oh yea, 'racism is as american as apple pie.' as a white guy i know ive enjoyed breaks and benefits i might not have if i looked black, mexican, or you name it. denial is central to the disease of racism. a lot of white people i know swear it's a trumped up figment of other people's imagination. i disagree, but i believe folks who say that honestly think it's true. maybe i'd see things just like they do except for a twist of fate that sent me to nigeria for several months when i was 19. i was really really surprised, because i expected a lot of bad vibes for being white in a totally black country, and one that had been a brit colony until 1960 at that. what i found? nothing. i was a curiosity in the smaller villages, but everywhere else people were just plain friendly to me. i've never thought about race relations the same since then because i knew that any of my nigerian friends would face problems everyday if they came to visit america. it's sad. this bs has been going on forever and it's way past time to change for the better. i wish i had the answer. i wish anybody had the answer.

If you don't know about Louisiana then you dont know nothing about how black people are treated there, I talked to a victim of Katrina the other day and she told me that white people here in Houston are extremely nicer than those in New Orleans, she said that white people there treat poor black people like dirt and talk to them crazy....I'm from Louisiana so I know how they are, one thing I can say about Louisiana white folk they got NUTS, they will call you a N*GGA to your damn face and fight your azz too!!!! And I have witness this... Going to New Orleans is like a time warp, things are totally different, the first time I went I had a culture shock, I wasnt used to being treated like a 2nd class citizen, I havent been back since. But it will always be about race, no matter how you try and sugar coat it...people just dont want to face, they think we live in this world of peace and harmony and no hate, but it will never be that way especially in the south.......research Vidor Texas and see how many blk people live there....NONE.....thx to the Klan

If that's what he's saying, then I agree. But, I understand how the disaster in our Gulf region is going to cause people to turn it into a black and white issue. I'm mixed Filipino and Spanish (looks more Spanish) and I can tell you a lot of things I've seen on the streets and in hallways of Corporate America and Academia on the West Coast that could rewrite some text books on racism and prejudice. Believe me, the KKK and Black Panthers in our country's history would be sharing their spotlights. Classism. It's a word people should get to know and understand a lot better than racism. Classism exists everywhere. Even among families both traditional and non-traditional. I think Classism is a dirty word as much as Racism is, if not more, because it's sneakier than Racism. Most people won't even know they were a victim of Classism. That's how bad (and clever), it is.

denial is central to the disease of racism. GREAT response! Nothing gets better by ignoring the problem. If you have a bad tooth you can ignore it for a while but... That motherf&%% will remind you, you've got a problem. Fix it. The 60's was a great time for change. People everywhere were looking for answers. The songs were about love, peace and equality now its back that booty up bit%$ What we need is more work toward a common goal. Lets not let another New Orleans happen. Nature can be cruel men should not. Hey Q if you're out there. Stop shooting some damm well.

I was wondering how long will it take for a modeling site to be turned into a forum for racial propaganda. Why do we even talk stuff like this here? I honestlly believe that you- the one who started this thread- either have nothing better to do either enjoy victimization. I am on neither sides but to be honest I am in the US for about 1 year and I am already sick and tired of hearing people complaining about racial issues. Get over it, there is no discrimination unless you are paranoid and obsessed with it. People who start threads like these are the root of all problems and racial fights. Anyways, being tired of all this crap, I am going back home in Europe!! yayyy

All I can say is Karma wasn't a figment of someone's imagination, for all of you wanting to help contact your local Red Cross-it could have been you that someone this bad or worse could have happened to, and you never know what you might need help with in the future.

Hmmm. See what I mean. This is an open forum but a white model says hey why do we have to talk about race???? Why because where she comes from its not an issue. Why because she doesn't have that nagging thought when she doesn't get a job it wasn't because she wasn't good enough but maybe they didn't need anymore sisters. Yes, many Black folks have chosen to remaim victims I'll grant you that and many times when we see race as a factor it isn't but to say race isn't a problem and that things are rosy is just hiding your head in the sand. However like the bad tooth ignore it. It won't get any better and when it gets bad enough all the pain killers in the world won't make a difference. last point. I try to not take things personally so please attack my postion but not me.

I think SouthPark said it best with episode 401 about race. Prosecutor: Mr. Cartman, do you know a boy by the name of "Token?" Cartman: Uh, yes? Prosecutor: Who is Token? Cartman: He's a black kid that goes to my school? Prosecutor: Black! [gets animated] Did you say black?! You called him black?! Cartman: He is black. Prosecutor: O! He said it again! [the audience gasps] He is African-American, and so you decided to pick him out! Cartman: I did? Prosecutor: The rage built and built inside your head until it became too much because you hate African-Americans!! Cartman: No! I hate hippies! Prosecutor: What?! Cartman: I hate hippies! I mean, the way they always talk about "protectin' the earth" and then drive around in cars that get poor gas mileage and wear those stupid bracelets - I hate 'em! I wanna kick 'em in the nuts! Prosecutor: Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, this is why we have hate-crime laws! This "monster" commited a crimeânot against an individual, but against a race! Do the democratic thing and send his fat little butt to prison!

Let me pose a question. Lets say you felt ill. You go to a doctor but he says I can't find anything wrong so you are not sick. Get what I mean. You feel bad but because he decided you aren't sick you have no reason to be ill. Its all in your head. Its imagined and made up. Get it? Because a all knowing second person decides there are no problems with you. You are making it all up. This is kind of what has happened in America. Many White folks have decided there is nothing wrong so there can't be. Shooting at a unarmed Black man in Harlem 41 times. Just a accident. Dragging a black man down a street in jaspur, Texas. Just guys being silly. The lynchings in the south , north and west that happened as late as the 1960's just missunderstandings. The KKK and other hate groups? Just large social clubs. See there you have it because White folks say we don't have a problem Black people, don't. Now go get a job get off walfare and stop having out of wedlock kids.

They were technically looting, but they were also being resourceful to survive). I do agree there is a lot of racism in this country, but this is still not one of the best ways of showing it.

That's Entertainment Tony Bennett (Howard Deitz/Arthur Schwartz) Everything that happens in life Can happen in a show You can make 'em laugh You can make 'em cry Anything Anything can go.... The clown with his pants falling down or the dance that's a dream of romance Or the scene where the villain is mean. That's entertainment! The lights on the lady in tights or the bride with a guy on the side, Or the ball where she gives him her all. That's entertainment! The plot can be hot, simply teeming with sex, a gay divorcee who is after her "ex". It can be Oedipus Rex, where a chap kills his father and causes a lot of bother. The clerk who is thrown out of work by the boss, Who is thrown for a loss by the skirt who is doing him dirt. The world is a stage, the stage is a world of entertainment. I've always liked this song:)
