Anyone up for a little get together in the Big Apple on Friday, July 8th? 8pm?

I'm thinking the
bar at the Hudson is nice.

356 West 58th Street (Columbus Circle/Time Warner Building area)

This may sound silly, but just so we will know eachother, maybe everyone could tie a piece of ribbon or yarn around their wrist.

CHANGE OF VENUE - BROOKLYN

* The Abbey
536 Driggs Ave. (between N. 7th & N. 8th),
Phone: 718-599-4400,
Map: Click Here
[L Trian to Bedford Ave]

The Abbey opened several years ago and is now a non-touristy staple. It has a maroon pool table, a pinball machine, and a an occasionally used DJ's booth populate the back. It is a largish space, and the air conditioning rocks in the summer. Beers start at $4 or so and the bartenders are always competent and often quite friendly. Small but solid tap selection (Guinness, Brooklyn Beers, etc.) and in general, no b.s. or hassles. Definitely worth visiting and the growing gay scene at The Abbey makes this bar even more appealing whether you are straight, gay, or undecided. Plus the jukebox will pleases fans of early 90's indie.

......................

It's a straight shot from Union Square on the L and accessible from the G (Metropolitain Ave) and you can drive to it as well.

no, i think as long as everyone is either naked, wearing nothing but a thong or wearing fake blood and fangs you'll all recognize each other just fine smile

Sounds great but the upper west side?

Geez,  can someones private plane pick me up for the ride up there.  Do you pay travel expense?  I will take it in free drinks,  even though I know I should just drink water.

I will wear handcups,  I will dress in drag,  I will wear angel wings,  I will paint myself gold,  I will even wear a suit,

But a man in a thong is just nasty.  Nasty, nasty,  nasty.

whatever handcups are, i'm sure they'll be a fine substitute for a thong, as will the rest of your proposed costume. you're excused from thongdom. please show us a handcup photo right away btw

If you have a better idea, let's hear it, but keep in mind there is a subway stop across the street [Columbus Circle - {Blue A,C},{Red 1,9},{Orange B,D}] and it is the very bottom of the upper west side at the southwest corner of the park.

I will check but I am thinking something close to a path train station to make it all fair.  Maybe around 14th st or hell's kitchen.

close to the subways to allow for the outer limits.

But either way,  I will drag my body there.

Just someone needs to drag me home.

I will look into options to make it easy for everyone but we can always do two.

I will sacrifice and go out two nights.

Easy for you to say. The last time I tried taking the subway every ten minutes the passengers were different ethnicities. I ended up across the river somewhere that was completely demolished and void of people.

Ask the station agent for a system map, figure out where you are, where you're going, and get off at the right spot (Columbus Circle). Literally millions of people use the subway system every day. It's not that hard.

Why did this get moved to the Buzz Board? Does anyone actually read the Buzz Board forum? I don't usually, but I went looking for my thread.

but it's dead now. no one has posted anything in hours. if it's not general discussion, then there should be a New York section, but it shouldn't be lumped in with casting calls and "look at my pictures" threads

If you meet people first then setting up a photoshoot is that much easier.

If you see people act maybe a little drunk or with a group then you can see them as they truly are.

Plus gosh darn it,  do we need an excuse to be friendly.

Hey Ched;

I am interested to show up.

The proposed area is fine with me... just wondering if a location in the photo/fashiondistrict would be more fitting to the "theme"?

You know... somewhere around 20th and sixth/seventh aves.?

I think the Hudson is fitting. Lots of celebs, very designer space. Fashion district next time maybe? Let's keep it simple for now though. We can scout some bars there for the next one.

Hey would you accept a "Can't shoot worth crap", Amateur, unprofessional, rabble rouser (other people's opinion, not mine) person from NJ?

If so, I might be able to swing it.

Of Course, I hate the subway.
Can't we all meet somewhere near Penn Station.
Then I only need to remember one stop to get home :-P

I don't see excluding anyone as a good course of action. And if you want help getting back to Penn Station I'm sure someone can show you the way.

I'd like to, but the first friday of every month is the 2600 meeting. Maybe we can make this a regular thing if it goes well and you can catch it next time.
