Check out her profile. She gives out her cell, her home phone, her e-mail and she might as well give out her bank acct info. She is wide open to scams, even if she is aware of what a scam is the scammer does not know that....
and if that is her real name getting the rest of her information will be easy

This should be a part of the sign up info for newbies to read before they join MM.

Hello

There must be a way to reverse the scams;

'e-mail to scam fashion designer';

I'm a fashion scout and I came accross your designer clothes on the web. I'm keen to pay you for the hire or 5 dresses on your site for a mag feature on designers.

This will be a fashion editorial feature that will be published in a famous mag which is distributed world wide. Blah blah blah.

I will send you $5,000 which you may deposit ...blah  blah blah.

Simple:

Search their name in the MM "Browse" tab

OR

Google the person's name

If a legitimate page that you remember applying to doesn't come up- SCAM

I've had a few idiots on Myspace try and pull this on me.  When I ask them why they are messaging me on Myspace instead of my modeling sites, I usually never hear from them again.

Nicki, a name is just that, a name.  Not even knowing what that person's name is, I bet there are thousands of people with that same name.

Go back to the very first post of this thread and read all of it.

Well, I've actually read all the first 2 pages... I googled the person's name, but there is apparently a famous person with his name as well. I googled his email (a gmail account), and it just came up with a bunch of modeling/acting/advertising websites in which he has pretty much the same casting call or project that he told me about.

I did not think to look him up on MM though - that was pretty stupid of me!

The point of Roger's original post is to ignore the details. Look for clues.

And even if you get involved in the beginnings of a scam, there are always clues that will help you walk away. Go to http://www.fakechecks.org/ to see what those clues are. Looking up specific names in all likelihood won't help in discerning a scam (although it CAN help from time to time).

Why is it ?

On MM people will discuss on the forums and investigate model agencys and Nigerian letters and any other dubious practice which are suspected as scams.

Yet on another UK site I had been on (past tense) people who bring up these subjects are either suspended or the forum is locked.
The site also allows model agencys onto it.

So why is it that one site is allowed the freedom of speech yet another imposes censorship.

Because people are free to run their websites/businesses the way they choose, and don't have to stick to one specific model.

Supposedly the other site had to pay £600 (approx $850) in damages (legal bill) due to a member calling a certain model agency a scam.
The model agency has probably been featurted on MM being called a scam. One of these that does'nt charge to join but you have to have your folio shot by their photographer $. Or pay to be featured on their site.
