No.....fail on all levels.

Sure, Star Trek has "tv roots"...and had 5 different incarnations. It was on for 40 years.

It also spawned 11 films (and another in the making) that made millions for Paramount.

I'll give Star Wars the edge...but the gulf in between them isn't as large as you might think.

You know, they shot there quite a bit at Vasquez Rocks.  I've been there several times and shoot there now and then.  Cool location.  Only about 40 miles away.

Star Trek...no question.

I enjoy some Star Wars on occasion but lets face it, out of the six films two are good, one is so-so, and three of them are absolute trash.

Sure, Star Trek had some crappy movies too, and lots of so-so episodes, but even the worst ones attempted to do something intelligent and new with Science Fiction.

Try getting a kid to watch the early Star Trek TV episodes and/or movies, then try getting them to watch the original Star Wars trilogy.  Even after 30 years, Star Wars can still hold a kid's attention; and the costumes and ships still make them want to be part of it.  The Star Trek stuff is so dated, I just can't see them getting into it.  The latest Star Trek movie was good, but if we're talking originals, then I'd say Star Wars wins hands down.

i gota agree..my little brother is 7 years old..and is OBSESSED deeply with star wars!
I'm so proud!

i was raised watching both, and i must say, i hated star trek as a kid....
tooo boring XD

but now that I'm older, i can enjoy it.

Star Wars.  In all ways that matter.

Capt Kirk vs Han Solo:  the Corellian space cowboy gets him every time.  Scoundrels FTW.

Mr Spock vs Chewbacca:  draw.  Both were pretty fucking awesome.

Princess Leia vs Lt Uhuru:  draw.  Zoe Saldana?  Mmph-mmph ERMPH!!!  But, for how many years did I fantasize about the Princess in that getup Jabba put her in?  Ooo, baby.

Padme Amidala vs Lt Uhuru:  Uhuru.  Did you see her in that skirt?!

Young Obi-Wan Kenobi vs …uh, Capt Kirk?:  Obi-Wan would go all padawan on his ass and slice him in half.  Or take his blaster from him, shoot him with it and tell him it was uncivilized in his progressively more sophisticated British accent.

Old Ben Kenobi vs Older Kirk:  Ben Kenobi.  These are not the droids you are looking for.  you don't want no parts of this ass-wuppin.  Move along.

Yoda vs Jean-Luc Picard:  Please.  Your ass, kicked it will be.

Data vs C3PO:  Data.  Sorry.  It just is.

Data vs R2D2:  AR-TOO!!!  Sorry.  It just is.

Geordi LaForge vs Lando Calrissian:  Oh come on.  If Lando wasn't the smoothest motherfucker in all of hyperspace…

Worf vs Mace Windu:  C'mon.  Samuel L. Jackson whups anybody's ass regardless.  Give him a lightsaber?  He's unstoppable.

Kahn vs Darth Vader:  Who's ya daddy!!

Borg Queen vs Emperor Palpatine:  "I've waited a looooooong time for this my little… green… friend."

7-of-9 vs Sexy Twi'lek Jedi:  I'll totally 6-t-9 that borg ass…

Star Trek (all but deep space 9, it just sucked ass)for me.

BSG also is right up there in my list of awesome shows (before it turned into a space soap opera).

Star Wars started out great, but lost it with the Ewoks. It dug a huge hole and tossed itself in with JarJar. Then when it tried to explain The Force with sciency stuff like mitochondria and when young Darth turned into such an insufferably whiny bitch, it done nuked the burial spot.

For me it was the Stormtroopers/Sandtroopers.  I remember watching Star Wars for the first time in 1977 when I was a kid.  I was amazed by their costumes.  I don't think any other costumes in any other films since that time have been as impressive or bad ass.  Of course, they can't shoot for shit...but still, they'll barbecue you if you get on their bad side. lol

Star trek took heavily from Horatio Hornblower. If you watch it you will be freaked out. It's like Star Trek only with islands and ports instead of planets.

https://www.michaeldvd.com.au/CoverArtUnverified/11903.jpg

and Star Wars took a lot from The Hidden Fortress

That would be a lot for me to keep.

Aren't there about 45,000 Star Trek episodes, 6 Star wars movies and 4 LOTR books?
