I am noticing that a lot of the photographers on this list do have in common that their shots either centre heavily on the model and her face, or are primarily fashion/artistic, vs. commercial or glamour, which is the genre it seems a lot of the photographers complaining here that they aren't being picked shoot.

That's true though these lists are biased to some point obviously. Many people have included their friends or people they like on a personal level. This is why I tried my best to list photographers who I thought were the best. Also many of the European photographers have been left out because they may not be as active. So again I tried to include them as well. It would be interesting to get some high-fashion models to come here and mention their favorites. So far they've been absent.

I poke my head into the shout box and everytime I even dare look, you're always complaining about this one issue. In fact there has never been a time that I haven't been in there and not seen you complain about this very thing. For one, none of the photographers I mentioned are part of your ridiculous 90% argument. Beyond your issue of faces being softened, you don't see anything else in anyone's work here who has been mentioned by everyone so far that you could say they deserve a mention? Come on now. Perhaps people didn't mention you because your work is neither compelling, unique, or even mildly interesting to look at. I don't mean to be so harsh, but you have come here and insulted all these photographers who have been mentioned so far with a ridiculous complaint. In simple words, you're whining. I looked at your work. I can barely make out skin definition on the faces of any of your models. This list is also more than just beauty. Not everyone mentioned is a beauty photographer.

No offense, but you are female and clearly NOT my target audeince. I dont shoot pretty photos for girls to get all giddy about, I shoot what sells on the net and thats sexy/erotcia. There are plenty of females who do like my work though obviously. Just because its not your thing doesnt mean its shit.

LOL, sad that my timing was poor then.  I met you for coffee, and then moved out of the country before we could get together again to shoot.  Now I'm back, but on the other side.  smile

Beer at McMenamins pub next time I'm out that way?  I'm dying for a terminator stout!

Fashion models that fashion photographers would shoot fashion stories of are unfortunately a rarity in these parts (and you can clearly see why already). Sad but true. Some of us are just here for the fun of the tags and forums and shout box. It beats Myspace... (Except Myspace has some kick-ass musicians, too.)

Since I'm a beginner I have no place on this list (yet)... but guess what, that will change very soon... This coming Monday evening I start an intensive 8-week course at the local community college... Each session is 2 hours, it's a bit pricey but will be well worth it... I'm going to learn lighting & composition and other stuff... see the class offering below...

I could spend all day studying the ramifications, to be honest... (I'm a psych major, I can't help it.) Personally, I find several parts of my body - my hands and neck, especially - to be far more attractive than my face, but I too want really nice face shots. I don't know if this is the case with most women, but I tend to notice a person's face - either gender - before I notice their body, and am more likely to notice unusual facial features than bodily ones. To me, my face represents "me" more than my legs or breasts or back or any other part of me does, and I suspect this is the case with many other female models as well. Is it strange to want to present it foremost and in the best manner possible?

It's certainly our most obviously unique part, and most expressive. I just spent a day on campus and "perfect" bodies are quite common wandering around- but if you see somebody with a wonderful body and then see their face, if the face doesn't interest you the rest suddenly becomes uninteresting as well. Very personal instinctive things at work.
I'm just picturing passport/id photos of our hands, or necks as the norm:-)

I would love to work with everyone on my "friends" list. I only add and approve members that I would want to work with. So when I want to schedule a shoot, I just browse my list. Now, making the time for the shoot/travel is another thing.  : )

You want the images themselves or the heavy photoshop that gives the illusion of beauty? Anyone can take a shot and get it professionaly shopped to that plasticy, glossy magazine look and make the model look beautiful...

Hey it took us a long time to learn how to heavily photoshop a picture until it submits...not just anybody can get in and ruin a picture properly with image editors...
