so on the scanner we hear a cop say "7 burners deployed we have a fire" (no shit) but when was the supposed gunshot before the 7 incendiary devices were shot into the cabin?

I'll be very surprised if he got out. I agree he'll likely be found with a self inflicted gunshot wound. IF he did get out, this is one of the biggest fumbles in law enforcement history.

if that cabin had a crawlspace or a basement it could be a while before they find a body.

In the Charles Bronson/Lee Marvin movie Death Hunt, CB's character barricaded himself in a log cabin out in the snow and it was blown up by a posse/Mounties. When they moved in to look for a body he was hiding in the basement with a shotgun. I hope this dude has never seen that movie.

CNN, AP, others can't seem to make up their mind.

BIG BEAR, Calif. (AP) — The extraordinary manhunt for the former Los Angeles police officer suspected of three murders converged Tuesday on a mountain cabin where he was believed to have barricaded himself inside, engaged in a shootout that killed a deputy and then never emerged as the home went up in flames.

A single gunshot was heard from within, and a charred body was found inside.

lots of people have exes who don't speak highly of their former loved ones.

and from what I read, a couple of those exes had no room to speak IMO.

yeah, but i haven't seen anyone come out and speak about the guy in a good light. you'd have thought in a week they could find someone.

cnn had a college buddy of his on tonight. the guy was struggling with the emotions of having been a friend of his, and what he had seen him do.

sounds like his family had the same issues.

His actions were unarguably wrong according to my values.  Just as law enforcement unloading on a truck with two paper ladies was unarguably wrong.  Just as a cops beating the holy hell out of Rodney King was wrong.  Just as using drones to assassinate targets while slaughtering innocents is wrong.

But some of these things are viewed with outrage.  Some are dismissed as somebody's else's problem.  And some are officially sanctioned as 'the right thing to do'.

That doesn't seem so black and white to me anymore.

Well said.

one ex posted the guy's badge number and name on girlsdontyadaredate.com (or something like that).  to me, that's 1 step short of posting someone's nasty bits on a revenge porn website.

ex wife says she was embarrassed to have been married with him but he used to stay at her house up until...a few months ago.  So she still maintained some sort of relationship.

a third ex :

Dorner also filed a restraining order against an ex-girlfriend who worked for the LAPD Crime Lab while he lived in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that he filed a temporary protective order against her last May in Clark County Family Court.

The order said that she threatened to kill herself after Dorner told her that he didn't want to speak to her anymore. He called police on her after she continued to bang on his door and rang his doorbell. Police warned her to leave. He said that a few days later the Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union reported that someone had tried to change the password to his account. Evidence showed the request came from his ex-girlfriend's home address. This restraining order was granted, but Dorner wrote in his "manifesto" that he was angry that she continued to stay on in the force despite her hacking attempt.

interesting question why folks who are trying to commit crimes are able to still work for the LAPD.

she wasn't following her around. she didn't even know it was her until after the mom left. the restaurant had to inform her. she just asked her and her friend if they knew him, or anyone that might. they both shook their heads no.

the reporter was just asking patrons generic questions. it was bizarre.

the chick was in la palma (you know, right next door to you) using the head in the restaurant as the story unfolded. she didn't even know who she was talking to. the restaurant staff informed her after dorner's mom and her friend left.

the mom got agitated and asked the staff if anyone knew who she was.

Sorry if I don't believe cops -- in my own neighborhood the streets will be blocked off and when you go and ask what is going on they have attitudes and tell you don't worry about it and go back in the house.

And then nothing about it on the news or the police blotter.

hah! yeah I've seen that happen one late night, cops blocked off the one bridge between Baltimore and Dundalk. I asked why as I was turning onto the exit ramp "don't worry about it, nothing to see here"  no news

They might be saying that there is nothing to see because...think about how MANY people are...

"Hey, what's going on?"

"Some guy got hit by a car and died."

"Who?" or "Hit and run?" or "was he crossing the street?" or "was he drunk?"

they don't want to play 21 questions.  Just easier to tell you to get lost.

They suppress crime statistics too. The police chief in Boca finally got nailed on that and lost his job.

I don't see any of the nonsense that goes on in my town on the news or the blotter -- and some of it I have seen with my own eyes.

I listened to the police spokesman say that they found the body and they identified it as Dohners. They were going into the building with a dozer and " Peeling back the layers like an onion" and now they have not been inside.

What a load of crap.

I am sorry but if you are in my front yard and you have all the exits to my street blocked off and I can't go anywhere and the helicopters are shining floodlights into my backyard I think I have the right to know if there is someone running through my back yard or if I need to go lock my doors.

And then cops complain that people don't cooperate.

Gee I wonder why.

There is conflicting information on this. Also on who fired the first shots. Either way, the ATF and FBI don't look good. Pumping flammable gas into a burning building?
