Are there any other options out there that can do the same in this country? I'd prefer to find something here in the States as my first options. I don't want to build my own. I am looking for a unit that is similar to this.

If you're looking for pre-built, then I guess your other options would be the Vagabond II, Dynalite XP1100, and Hensel Visit 1500.

i have the innovatronix, great unit. it's served me well over the past  year. holds a charge pretty well, just keep it plugged in. but with the vagabond price dropping, if i had to do it over again, i'd probably get one of those instead. and i probably will get one of those soon.

There's an entire section of the Lighting, Flash, Ring, & Battery Strobe Reference thread which deals with battery options for strobes. The most common one discussed is the White Lightning/Alien Bee Vagabond II.

MM Threads on PORTABLE FLASH options

* Power strobes outside, invertors
* Digital monolights and generators
* White Lighting Vagabond precautions (Inverters, generators, grounding...)
* Portable Battery Power...
* Portable power question.
* options for portable battery powered strobes
* Portable Lighting
* Power Source for On-Location Shooting (Generators, batteries, & dedicated DC units)
* Anyone using the Vagabond II (Paul Buff's updated battery unit)
* location lighting equipment
* Portable strobes & packs...what are you using?
* Vaggabond (Inverter and battery options)

PB's Vagabond2 is the best bang for the buck...powers my Profoto 300r compact monolight without any hesitation...I do have a slight but noticeable lag with my 600r...nothing major still under a second

Heavy but hey at $299.00 a steal

The Vega bond looks like it only has one plug outlet.

What? Filipinos don't deserve your money for a good product? I just wonder if your camera originated from an American company or a foreign one?

Don't turn my thread into one of your racial drama issue. Either address the question or just move on. The last thing that I need is for someone to come highjack my thread because they decided to read something that isn't there.

I was just reading through this linked thread:

Have you changed your mind now then that heavy generators are the only way to go?

I use the tronix explorers for my Profoto 600w monolights. I use one per light. I get about three hours of heavy use.

When I ordered my Tronix Explorers, they arrived quickly. I think the order was placed late on a Sunday night, and they were at my place on Friday (they were warehousing some here in the U.S.). I got an e-mail within a week or so after that, and wound up having a productive chat with the customer service rep. asking for my feedback.

Cool. I had mentioned the Tronix only because I like what I'm seeing but if I can get something here that is similar around the same price, then I'm good to go. My reason is just in case something goes bad I don't have to go through the motion of sending it way back there to get it repaired. I was going to go with the Travelite battery pack for my unit, but the Tronix is a better deal and from what I've been told by a user, you don't give a lot like you should.

I'll ask you the same since you decided to focus on my reply to the particular poster and a thread that is now two years old. Either address the topic or don't. The last thing that I need is a drama queen highjacking the thread. Amazing how some of you photographers bring your issues to the net world.

Iuse both the tronix and Vagabond, depends on which lights I'm using. The Tronix will power my Speedotron Blackline or my Profoto packs. You can see my test results at http://breganphoto.blogspot.com/2007/12 … 200ws.html
The Vagabond only has one outlet, I use an extension cord with a splitter to power an AB800 and AB400. The Tronix has 2 outlets and I can run a Profoto 1200 and 600 at low power, long recycle time.

Thank you Bryan. I'll check that out. Also thanks to the rest that answered the question from their personal experience.

A few weeks ago I have purchased TRONIX EXPLORER XT and I am very happy with it (newer faster and more powerful version of  Explorer 1200). I am using it with elinchrom style 400fx strobes. The small issue I only have is that I can run only 1 elinchrom 400fx unit (but I knew it before I made my purchase)bacause my strobe is digitaly controled .It was not a problem for me because I was planning to use only one strobe head per battery pack.So my advise before purchasing  check  Compatibility Chart. Or even better send email to innovatronix. They always answer.

yes, its fast enough (for 400w at full power unit about 2,5 sec) and well made. I just have ordered elinchrom style 1200rx and hope to test with tronix next week.

p.s: innovatronix recommends to maintain the battery's optimum life span keep it plugged in wall outlet when not in use.

when charging battery tronix XT is a little bit noisy smile
