My fav is this it is decent looking and the model gave you her 100% nothing else strikes me as good. You have a long way to go if you are really interested in improving your skills for non real estate related shoots.

I love this idea! I'm not sure if you critique retoucher ports, but I'd like to know what you think of mine. Be harsh! hah

Indoor lighting, in this the mood may be fine but look at the position of the right side light source which casts an ugly shadow of her nose. Lack of careful selection of good shoot angles minimizing model imperfections https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/23320562 here nostrils do not look good, and from another angle she would look great. Also face expressions and the way they are staring at the camera is not attractive. Try NOT to give a candid feeling in your pictures. I hope this helps. to sum up : cropping, lighting, and model shoot angles.

Trupin Photography wrote: Hey varton - I'm trying to capture a range of images with my measly 15 slots, but no one's looking at them! What do you think? Thanks man. Josh you may have a nice bow, but your arrow is falling short that's why no one is looking at them. And don't underestimate measly 15 slots because that's all you need really to showcase if your photos are strong. I have seen others who did it. The main problem for most photographers is often, they click without thinking deep about what kind of image they want to create. In this sense failing does not mean you are taking bad pictures but you have the bad idea of a picture. If you get the difference, any picture you take comes out good. How do you know if it is a good or bad idea? They will not teach you how to think. Perhaps they will teach you lighting, framing exposure etc, certainly those are necessary skills for a good photo, but often worthless if you don't have a goal, and a story to tell in a single frame. I think that's the problem why people are not spending too much time on your port. I can give you some examples. In this photo https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/20307853 you took the picture of a lady and she seems to be saying OK what you got? I am afraid not much there. First your cropping is tight, you are focusing on her weakest features like close up on face, whereas her most selling points might be elsewhere and that's blurred. so much for a beauty shot. in this the background is pale and has 2 distracting and competing spots. By shifting the vantage point, you could keep only one of those, provided that, she is in on the sweet spot and the background could be enhanced or made black and white to balance the picture. This low light condition boudoir is not interesting because of flat light and insufficient details due to artistic blur effect. Her head seem to be bigger then the body which is impossible to fatom. The best dramatic light effect is here but hard to distinguish from thumbnails this seem to be the best one this model https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/23115354 has great features but her ribs look bad in this picture. The cropping is also a bit meh. so if you pay attention to small details you are going to be off the hook.

Hello Denmark you got some nice bw art nudes I am jealous of not many photos but I get the idea https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/20378430 your best on some portrait work the cropping is a bit tight like in this and I rather you the show the model rather then the lingerie. https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/21121220 might need to be retouched a bit. You have your own style and as long as it rocks your boat, this port works well for that.

I know I'm extremely new to this (2-3 months now), but any constructive criticism would be appreciated. Most everyone holds more weight than I do on the modeling subject both behind and in front of the lens. Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Casey Checked your port, great physique Not much there but few head turners like this and but on the latter one light is flat. Avoid shots with busy backgrounds for port use you may want to add moustache and bearded looks, it would add diversity to your port. the way it is now is average in outfits and posing. Be more assertive and emulate personality and attitude.

Please see https://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thre … st15314864 I checked again to see if you added anything new I found this I wish the shoot angle was lower and would show better your hair, hand position could be better, this perspective is better if possible to delete the power line tower it would look a lot better in this case you look great here your best shot so far. keep it up you are beautiful, try also other looks beside retro pinups.
