To be honest, can a nude be just "artistic" and "beautiful" and void of sexuality?  I'm not sure.

I think this might also be a place to discuss the difference between sexual and erotic.

Personally, I wouldn't want a nude to be void of sexuality.  I know others feel differently, but I don't see the point in that.  So many seem to try to keep sexuality/eroticism out of their "artsy" nudes, whereas in my work, I want to celebrate those aspects of the model.

In general, I find the staid, "artsy" black and white nudes that attempt to keep sexuality out of the story, quite boring and without human energy.

The differnce between sexual and erotic?  From my perspective, there is no difference - the only variation is in what an individual finds sexual/erotic in a photograph - that is as unique as the human psyche, wouldn't you say?

You have to give some details on this location/production?  Did you put this together, find it like this?

It's at the Leland Hotel in Detroit as is always part of the available locations of the Detroit Erotic Arts Collaborative shoots, when at the hotel.  The next shoot is in mid Sept.

I used it another time here:

It seems SOOO hard to find nude models. Everyone seems to think that nude modeling entails bright lights and crotch shots.
It's getting very, very frustrating. That and tattoos. Why can't I find models without tattoos??!!?? Grrr.

Nudity is something everyone has...even if most keep it under wraps in public.  Sexuality/Eroticism has more to do with action and intent (although a perfectly pure-minded/chaste subject can portray it even without the intent).  I get nekkid...and I don't feel like I'm displaying anything particularly private.  (Sure, if as many people saw me naked live as see me naked in pictures, maybe I'd feel different.)  But sexuality strikes me as something I prefer to keep private.  But I'm glad that not everyone does, because I love looking at those pictures. yikes)

All said, I believe my nudes are non-erotic.  But I don't think I earn any badges for that.

I wasn't necessarily talking about erotica. Example: little if any of the work I've posted up on my own MM page, for example, would be erotica, and yet if any of it isn't at least a bit sexual in subtext if nothing else, then I've probably failed.

I see what you mean.  Non-erotic images can and do often have a sexual undertone.  "Sexy" doesn't necessarily equate with "erotic".  There's a line that separates what I would vs. what I wouldn't show my mom.

Actually, I had a really insightful response for this, but I just got slammed with sleepiness.

Sorry I am so late to the show. I wish I could have participated sooner.
I hope that my nude series is non sexual. But I guess that is in the eye of the beholder.

You're right on time!  Great work.  The Halloween shot scares the shit out of me!  I think I took her home one night in college!

I've kind of tried nudes twice. They're definitely not my thing. I can't get anything good with them. Haha. But here's my last one... I was just going for capturing how good the wind felt when you're naked.. lol.

After trying to shoot them twice.. I realized how hard it is (for me at least) and appreciate people who do them well SO much more. smile

I don't see anyone stating that they think it's a badge of honor,
but rather that full nudes can be done in a non-sexual nature.

To me it's the on the opposite side of the coin that you can be
fully clothed and have the most erotic sexual image smile

I suppose it is possible, even when it's a photograph of a woman's vulva which I personally find as beautiful as any flower. Sensuality is unavoidable IMHO whenever the subject matter is human and something beautiful
