Nude burn out!!!
Didnt think it was possible but Im burnt out on doing nudes! Someone shoot me!!! What the fuck? Its like the hassle that comes with shooting nude models is kicking my ass! Never thought i would be looking forward to doing fashion style shoots over nudes...who knew? Feb 13 13 07:11 pm Link Everyone goes through phases. Eventually you have to shoot something else just to get your passion for it back. Try a new style when you get back to shooting it as way to stretch artistically. Feb 13 13 07:15 pm Link Yeah...I think that is where I am at right now. Thought I could do nudes like forever but I think I need something more. Feb 13 13 07:20 pm Link CityofTroy Photography wrote: What about shooting nudes is kicking your ass? Feb 13 13 07:31 pm Link That is most unfortunate. Best of luck with whatever new genre you decide to start shooting. Edit: I'm also curious to know what about shooting nudes you find to be a "hassle." Feb 13 13 07:36 pm Link To paraphrase Samuel Johnson, "He who is tired of shooting nudes is tired of life." Feb 13 13 07:39 pm Link even if i was thrown in jail and got bitch fucked and became someones sex toy i would never ever give up on nude photography NEVER! Feb 13 13 07:41 pm Link Hassle in what way? Feb 13 13 07:42 pm Link What hassle do you have shooting this genre that you dont have shooting fashion ? If anything fashion should be much more complex unless you have the same team to shoot with. Feb 13 13 07:42 pm Link I mostly shoot nudes, but every once in awhile I will mix in a different shoot to do something different. I'd be interested in know what the hassle is compared to fashion. With nudes you need minimal (if any) wardrobe and usually not much makeup. That's one of the reasons I like shooting nudes - very easy to organize. Feb 13 13 07:50 pm Link CityofTroy Photography wrote: I've been mostly shooting nudes for 11 months after only a handful before that. Feb 13 13 07:59 pm Link Well, looking at your port, you got everything there was that's good to get. I'd probably quit, too, with those images. Feb 13 13 08:01 pm Link Is it a hassle or is it the drama the models put out there when they agree to shoot? Everything has to have a stipulation on usage or they want so much money to shoot nudes. Artsy nudes, glamor nudes, how about hard core porn? now you talking hassle..... Good Luck dude, diversify... Feb 13 13 08:03 pm Link The burn out? its the clients...period. There is less trade with nudes...more about money. i come to find out that most of the women (local women) on this site that do nudes work in strip bars and they are not really models. Just girls looking to get paid...which is fine but they dont have model talent. All they can do is strip but nothing to bring to the table. Also they dont take care of themselves like professional models do. They just wore me out but I think its a good thing. The experience made me appreciate true models and what they do for photographers. Even if I have to pay...I just want someone who knows what they are doing and appreciate the art. Feb 13 13 08:10 pm Link My biggest issue has been nude location "burnout" due to only a few of them being nude safe. Whenever I go back to clothed shooting, the increased number of location options is liberating. Feb 13 13 08:10 pm Link Yeah, I agree...clothing is starting to look better and better everytime i think about it. The last nude shoot I had with this model...she had clothes all over the back seat of her car. I was like...what the hell? i told her that i wanted to do some type of theme but I guess since it was nude, she figured I would be just happy with that and that is how most of them think. Its like because I want nude...i cant be creative or desire to do some type of glamour style nudes. Feb 13 13 08:16 pm Link Its like..."Hey...Im nude, what the fuck else do you want?" attitude. Feb 13 13 08:17 pm Link That happened to me with bikinis. Have not shot a bikini model in over three years! Feb 13 13 08:17 pm Link CityofTroy Photography wrote: You need to do better screening. The only issues I've ever had with models posing nude is with the ones doing it for reasons other than to make art. The art models I've worked with have been great to work with and bring so much to the shoot I sometimes feel guilty that all I have to do is press the shutter button and end up with awesome work. Feb 13 13 08:21 pm Link MelissaAnn wrote: I never have a hassle. The models just take their clothes off and we start shooting. Feb 13 13 08:24 pm Link That is what I need...true professionals. I've been so gun ho to shoot that I dont spend the time screening the clients and by the time I realized I made a mistake, its in the middle of the shoot. It wasnt a complete waste though...they were good practice but now, I just want to do something different and Im sure I will get back into nudes later with a better attitude and with better judgement. Feb 13 13 08:26 pm Link Feb 13 13 08:29 pm Link CityofTroy Photography wrote: Hassle in what way? Feb 13 13 08:29 pm Link CityofTroy Photography wrote: Then maybe its more about your model selection. Feb 13 13 08:35 pm Link Also i know in photography...not everything turns out the way we photographers expect it. All genres has their ups and downs. To say doing nudes is easy depends on what position you are in. If you have a crew, money and you are very popular in your area...Im sure nudes are easy as hell. No worries, models will do what you want because they figure you were published and that could do well for their careers. Also, you have the money to pay for their plane tickets and hotel stay in Miami or LA, hell...Im sure its real easy...but not all of us have it like that. When you are at the bottom, in the beginning of your career...its work. pain stacking work that im sure most of you photographers can understand when you were starting out. Nudes isnt hard because I dont like taking nudes...i love it! its hard because Im not in the position right now to fully control the outcome of it. Feb 13 13 08:35 pm Link I love doing nudes and it should be easy but I believe its my screening process that is out of whack and that I need to change what I am doing. I hear everything all of you are saying and I am taking it in. Dont think your words fall on death ears...I get where you are coming from. I need to change the way I think when it comes to my craft and how important it is to do real art. Feb 13 13 08:39 pm Link I have been in and out of those phases for years. There are only so many ways to try to shoot nudes creatively. Don't get me wrong, I still shoot them, but now, I'm aiming more at (well this port is gore, but my other is aiming at fashion and the likes). It comes and goes.. To me, to have any interest in shooting nudes, it has to be something more than just standing nekkid in front of the camera (yawn) Feb 13 13 08:40 pm Link Nudity has nothing to do with your hassles. Its crappy models that are burning you out. There are just as many crappy fashion models as there are nude models. If you are more selective in finding better subjects things will get better. You are kidding yourself if you think all these "hassles" will go away by changing genre. Feb 13 13 08:46 pm Link robert b mitchell wrote: Ha! Exactly. For me about five years. Feb 13 13 08:53 pm Link CityofTroy Photography wrote: Same happened to me. I stopped shooting for a year to concentrate on my then new hobby - drinking. Everything will get old if you do it too long. The change of pace helped. Now I got tired of drinking and I'm ready to get back into photography again. Feb 13 13 09:02 pm Link CityofTroy Photography wrote: Interesting. I don't think I've shot with a stripper (even unintentionally) in a couple of years. And I've been probably averaging 80 shoots a year for a couple of years now. I'm not avoiding strippers, just never sought them out. And while most of my shooting is in the DC area, I travel so it's not just the DC market. Just my $0.02 Ciao Stefano www.stefanobrunesci.com Feb 14 13 04:52 am Link I gave up nude photography, now the models are the nude ones Feb 14 13 05:37 am Link CityofTroy Photography wrote: What makes you think that you'll have any better results with fashion models? Sure there's more of them to choose from, but for the most part the only difference between them and the ones that model nude is they don't take their cloths off. What I mean by this is the a majority of people calling themselves models on this site are just girls who think that looking pretty is all it takes to be a model. I just get tired of nude flakes. You think you're gonna shoot nudes, and then they space you out. THAT I'm tired of. Feb 14 13 08:25 am Link I've been shooting cacti in bloom for a change. Keeps me into things. Feb 14 13 08:40 am Link CityofTroy Photography wrote: I went through much the same a couple years ago. I took about half a year off shooting models all together to focus on other things. When I started shooting models again, I put more emphasis on non-nude shoots - some of the same headaches, but less extreme. Feb 14 13 09:16 am Link |
