If you're looking to expand, just ask photographers. The worst thing that will happen is they say no, or not till your 18. Boo. Then youll know and can move on to the next one.

Everette doesn't really give you the photos back, so even though they're published you don't get a tear sheet or anything. Oh well it still looks good on the resume!

Sure glad my work is not in your portfolio. You might not have meant it, but you just slammed those photographers who took the pics in your portfolio.  You have some tear sheets, so others beyond the photographer considered them worthy. 

and you'll want more than one photographer to build a worthy portfolio. Showing you work with several different photographers is best. Otherwise, you appear exclusive to that photographer, or only able to work with that one.

What she meant is that they might not be up to agency standards. If she is a commercial model she  should want good commercial  work or if she is fashion model she should want  good fashion work not just settle for average.  This is not a critique but I sort of agree  with they are not. Photographers should not be so emotional about their work just because they might think is amazing does not mean it actually is.

I've run into quite a few models with secondary market "child" agencies that send their models to MM to look for tests....  I suppose that is in some ways better than sending them out to pay a good bit of money for portfolio work as some do

Oh no, I love my photographers, they've all been wonderful to work with!

I'm sorry this got misconstrued I wasn't talking about the photographers work but rather my own as far as modeling and look.   Since my most recent shoots I've lot quite a bit of weight and been working on posing, etc.  So no, I love the photographers I've worked with but as a model I feel my work in the photos hasn't been great and that a photographer considering testing with me I'd look through my port and see an inexperienced model. 

I've raised my game lately and am hoping to work with some others who can help bring my port to the next level I feel I get turned down quite a bit because of the lack of expressions in my port currently... Acting and modeling is very different hah

if what you need is great photos look at the portfolios of photographers in your area who do the work you want in your portfolio.

Contact them and ask them about their testing rates.

Pay them.

In the meantime take your portfolio down to 4 amazing images (lose the doubles). Remove anything that isn't worthy of being in a magazine. Also lose the resume, this is not the place for it.

Once you have paid a few photographers to up your game, and help you understand posing and how to work with the camera, you will most likely be able to book unpaid tests to complete your book and hopefully find some commercial clients.

If it's published in print, you shouldn't have to get the tear from the photographer, go straight to a copy of the printed magazine and scan (have it scanned) or contact the publication and possibly get a digital reprint.

I'm sure the MM lawyers will want to weigh in on this, but this is the way its been done for years and years.

ummmm as a good friend to the photographer in question, who does have a portfolio on MM, I would suggest you not discuss him on here. It is called outing.

Nicely contact the creative director of Palm Springs life and ask for a PDF of the image sets.

I would think the booking agent at your agency would have some idea of which photographers are inclined to test with new models from their experience with the women who have previously come through the agency and what models tell them along with what new photos they see in their models books.

Take the initiative & ask in a private message. Otherwise they may never know about the opportunity.

Don't rely on tags or picture comments.

Bad advice.  She'll shoot herself in the foot with that one.  Why not wait until you see their work or find out what the concept is before determining whether hair/makeup/wardrobe is even necessary?  Many of the top agencies in LA (and OC/SD if you want to nit-pick) will have no trouble letting their girls test without a full team; it just depends on the photographer and the shoot.  Especially considering she's a new face it's highly unlikely that anyone is going to have a full team for her (or any other new face) unless their desperate for models (and in that case it's probably not going to help her out considering they're desperate anyway) or REALLY like her look. 

Oddly enough the rest of what you suggested she write is pretty good and concise.

ETA: Also, Madison...if you want to know what to keep in your book it's generally a good idea to talk to your bookers....after all, it's their job to market you and they probably have a better idea of how to do so than anyone here on MM. 

Same goes for testing, even the jankiest of agencies will suggest a list of photographers to contact to test with.  Better ones will push you in packages to photographers.  Talk to your booker (which you should be doing somewhat regularly anyway) and see what they can do in terms of testing/updating your book, and also how they want to market you (in case you manage to set up some stuff on your own).
