Would it matter to you as a photographer that your lover does spreads?

You talkin grape jelly?  Raspberry preserves?  I Can't Believe It's Not Butter?

A two-page spread?  Tabloid-size double-truck?

or are you asking about the photographic content that isn't permitted on this site?

If the content that is expressly prohibited on this site, I'm not sure how discussing it or how we would feel about a "lover" "doing" them would be appropriate for the "General Industry" forum.

Why would I care, if there is trust in the relationship, and that was what she wanted to do? If there is no trust, there is no relationship.

If that was a big deal to me, I probably wouldn't be involved with them in the first place.

Nope, I don't care at all. My wife ( see avatar) has been doing adult fetish work with quite a bit of explicit spread stuff, for over a decade, has even graced a few DVD covers, and she loves doing it. No jealousy here.....it's a "job" she loves and I support her 1000%.  smile

I was joking around one day and came up with an idea...

Being on a ski team in High School I used to do a bunch of tricks, a spread eagle being one of them. I thought it would be so funny to make a calendar of Playboy type women doing such tricks with cute snow bunny outfits.

Would be pretty marketable if they were not clothed in the right places.
I'd just shoot it and produce it, not be in it.

lol

I have shot nudes for forty years.  How could I tell me girlfriend she couldn't pose nude?

I wouldn't like it at all. She could photograph nude people, but having her out there for everyone to see?? No.

If (in my case) she allows me to shoot whatever I want to do, I'm not seeing why I shouldn't allow her to model whatever the hell she wants to do.

No, it would be her decision.

What would matter is that she was healthy, happy and content, those are the things that matter.

I'm confused, why would we care?

Partners are not property and have minds of their own.

Seems like it would be rather hypocritical to object.

I thought you meant something really gross like grape jelly, marmalade, or ICBiNB.

+1

My wife shoots nudes. She doesn't like spreads, so she doesn't shoot them. If she did, she'd shoot them, who am I to say otherwise?

If she was happy to do it then more power to her.

It's just another part of the body after all.

My personal life is my reality, and separate to the fantasy land and voyeuristic photography world I keep in my mind.

I'd prefer to keep it that way, the distance, the respect, and at the end of the shoot it's over so I have no questions about the morals (according to others) what is acceptable to me.

Hi. If my partner allows me to photograph nude women and she trusts me, then who am I to not allow her to be photographed in like fashion. As long as the ground rules are not breached then it's all good

^ Is the only reasonable response IMO - anyone saying otherwise is guilty of double-standards at best and abject hypocrisy at worst...

Yes, it matters in some minor way. Not nearly as important as many other actions or decisions but it is in my view some small way courageous and interesting. Probably bothersome and tedious if repeated excessively but not likely more so than other forms of modeling.

I think it's the wrong question.

1.  If you're shooting artistic nudes and really committed to the art, it doesn't matter if someone's legs are spread or not.  If it's a beautiful photograph or a powerful shot, it shouldn't matter if your penis or labia is showing.  Michaelangelo's David has a penis that is showing.

2.  If someone shoots porn, for the intentional purpose of appealing to lust, then it may not matter if someone has their legs spread or not.  They could appear to be in mid-organism, wearing panties with her hand down in them, apparently covered with sperm on her breasts....there's no "spread legs" but that pose is pretty darn graphic and given the way it's typically posed and shot, not very artistic but just plain prurient.  But that's somehow more acceptable than spreading your legs?

This whole thing about spreads is so darn simplistic and naive to me.  I've shot lovely poses of models who had to get nude in order for me to shoot them...but in the resulting photo they were shielded or silhouetted or draped.  The model did get nude for me to shoot her though.  I've had some pretty good art models pose for me, they often had their legs spread and after the shoot I couldn't tell you if they had pubic hair or not....b/c what was between their legs wasn't what I was focusing on (and in many cases was in shadow).

It's not about if your legs are spread, it's about what it is you're shooting.

As for a wife or girlfriend:
1.  Why should I shoot something I wouldn't allow my love to do if she so desired?  Pretty hypocritical of me if that were the case.
2.  Like all good relationships, it should be negotiated and agreed upon.  You want to get a dog, your boyfriend doesn't want dogs.  Your boyfriend wants to have a big family, you just want one child.  You want to live in the mountains, he prefers a beach.  So like anything that both people care about, you talk about it and work it out.

Sure why not? I photograph nude women all the time. If she wanted to pose nude someday, I'd say go for it.

If I were uncomfortable with it, I would talk it over with her.  Ask what her aim, her goal, was in doing so.  And let her know my feelings.

It would all depend on the intent and artistic merit of the image, not the pose.

It may be their body but I can have an opinion about what they do with it.  If my boyfriend decided he didn't wanna shower anymore or use it to sleep with tons of girls or wanted to cut off his arm I'd object to that.  That doesn't mean they'd be forced to do what I want but it may mean we're not going to be together anymore.

It's their body but I can choose not to be with a person depending on what they wanna do with it.

That being said I'm really not sure if it would bother me because I've never been with anyone who even liked getting their picture taken. It also depends a lot on a lot of things; if the pictures were more artistic or pornographic, if they were getting paid or not, if they were working with scummy people ect. I'm really not an exhibitionist so I'd imagine I wouldn't really get along with someone who wanted all kinds of sexual attention.

Don't matter to me. It really isn't that big a deal in the big picture of life. I'd probably be bragging about it were I so fortunate to be with a woman that beautiful.

I've done fetish and more 'explicit' work in the past. Some of my exes hated it. Fine, whatever.

I met my husband at a fetish shoot. It's really nice to be with someone who's more open-minded.

If she was a nude model when I meet her then do your thang. If she was just a clothing model then wanted to pose nude, I would be her only photographer. And I would continue to shoot nude models.
