Where are you from? Where are you based now and do you travel for shoots?

I’m from Northern California. I’m based approximately one hour from San Francisco.

I enjoy traveling for shoots. My favorite cities to travel to is Los Angeles and San Diego, but I’m open to travel to other states to shoot, especially if the temperature is pleasant.

Who or what inspired you to become a model?

In retrospect, the desire to become a model was when I was twelve. When I was a child I remember looking through my older sister’s magazines and I was intrigued by the natural beauty of Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford, and how effortlessly they were beautiful.

The dream started there but the most compelling aspect about modeling to me is the versatility a model can have shooting various genres and the emotions a model can evoke from a viewer.

How and when did you start modeling?

I started modeling ten years ago. I signed with a talent agency in the San Francisco area and then signed with another agency in San Jose. I’m very appreciative of everything the agencies have done for me and their professionalism. In addition to modeling, a year ago I decided to pursue acting and have attended formal acting classes.

What type of modeling do you enjoy the most?

My favorite genres to shoot are lifestyle, fashion, boudoir, lingerie, and beauty.

What do you look for when deciding to work with a photographer?

The top things I seek when working with a photographer are:

• Professionalism
• Promptness in responding to messages
• The lighting, composition, and if all the photos in their portfolio are confident with quality.

Oh, and of course, someone with a sense of humor. You need to have some humor during a shoot!

Which models or other artists currently inspire you?

I don’t have specific artists or photographers I follow for inspiration. However, I am often amazed at some of the work by the photographers on Model Mayhem, there are a lot of talented photographers on here.

What would be your dream shoot?

My dream shoot would take place on a tropical island, where I can find myself shooting for hours.

How important is social media in your success?

I believe using social media platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook, for modeling is crucial and beneficial. I’ve met many wonderful models and photographers through social media.

What else do you like to do outside of modeling?

Outside of modeling, I enjoy doing yoga, kickboxing, hiking, and since I’ve always been into art, I enjoy doing watercolor painting.

What’s the best career advice you can give to new models?

The best career advice I can give new models is to always be professional, punctual, and prepared. Do your research on reputable agencies if your goal is to get signed. Always educate yourself on rates if a gig is through an agency or through freelancing. Always follow your gut instinct and stay safe. And, most importantly, take care of your health and be tenacious. Modeling can have challenges and it is essential to persevere and never give up!
