Darland Photography wrote: i'm an amateur but would love a critique!! this is one the best in the port. i feel like a lot of your shots are very sear studio portrait-ish... and people are going to give you shit for the one pic with selective coloring. (yes i know i have one too) but photographers seem to dislike them on here.

I think you work is strong and something many people are going to love to look at. I just think sometimes where you watermark is a bit to much and slightly distracting from the image.. but thats just personal preference
great job on this one!

this is really creative and i adore this shot a whole lot. you expression are pretty on target.. so awesome job with that as well.. ..and i also admire that as talented as you are you are still open to accepting tfcd shots.. just to build the port. that another sign of an excellent dedicated model

this is the strongest one if your port without a doubt. a lot of the others are good.. but not great... but i think you have that great potential and should deff keep working on it.

thanks! any books you'd recommend? Scott Kelby is usually really good in my opinion with wording things. http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Photograp … 032147404X thats a good one. From there when you find your style.. check out some books on lighting (which is what i am working on now) and any book on whatever program you use for editing never hurts.

I will work on the expressions as well. the ones on the bottom row. and the pool hall one are good. the others kinda make you look one dimensional on the background. that is usually caused by either bad lighting or terrible editing, but they dont look over edited so it could just be like lighting.
