When I look at your work the distinction and overall efficiency difference between your studio and location work has created quite the gap. Do you have a photo journalist background? Your studio work is lackluster and boring. Kick it up with mentoring or workshops that focus on lighting sets ups in the studio environment OR decided its just not your playground! Thanks Jessica! I appreciate you taking the time for your critique and agree with your points. Most of my studio work was done after hours at one of those mall "glamour" studios where they paint the cheekbones on with make-up and use totally flat lighting so no wrinkles show. They had umbrellas, large soft boxes and big reflectors to play with but beggars can't be choosers. I have been mentored in using grids, snoots, spots and all that fun stuff but the recent budget only allowed for a new digital camera/lenses, lights and a couple of umbrellas. I almost have it paid off and light modifiers is the next thing on my list of must-have items. Not so much photo-journalism as a tendency to improvise that comes from 30+ years of playing guitar in rock bands.

Werner Lobert wrote: I would love to hear what you have to say Hi there! I know you state your a natural light guy but it would help a whole lot just throwing a reflector in outside the frame of the shot to get some fill under the eyes. Remember, its still the point where viewers connect with the subject of an image. It is also more flattering to minimize dark circles girls have naturally.

Hayley Louise Moore wrote: Hi could you please view my page? Regards Hayley Hi Hayley, You have beautiful eyes. My critique of your book is it all feels like a gathering of portraits. Nothing wrong with having a face based portfolio, but, it can be boring when we see the same thing over and over. Mix it up.

Gabes Photography wrote: Sure why not... let's hear it... I like that you discuss in your profile your policy of what you offer and what you deliver in exchange. Maybe consider revising you policy of no high res. I understand and agree no one needs a disc of high res of all the images. DO you offer high res of the edited finals? Maybe instead of the disc you can offer the 4 final retouched images in print resolution for their portfolios? I have recently realized I haven't got much to print due to people's policy of no print files. That being said, I never ask for discs nor see the legitimate need for untouched images. Maybe revisit and swap a raw file, low res disc for the final touched images for print.

How can I change things for the better. thanks Hi Jim, We all had to start somewhere at some point or we'd never be where we are or more importantly, where we want to be! Looks like some of your headshots in the studio are underexposed, but ask people more qualified than me how to fix that I think you're just getting your feel for where to take your model photography. Its a cool place to be at since everything you can shoot in the next year will be helpful and teach you something. Shoot as much as you can and reach out to hose who can help you grow. I'm modeling in a workshop in DC in March, maybe check it out if you're interested in that environment for development! And hell, a nude of Jessica V never hurt nobody!

Well, you've heard a lot of my thought about your book and modeling in general... What's new to say? -Great things always happen when you have kick ass makeup and hair stylist. Bribe them more often! Lol! -I think more 3 point glamour (Playboy lit, bright) would benefit your book greatly. -Write people off MM for book development. You'd be surprised who's hiding below the surface in the cities we travel to. Check the names in the fronts of the mid level glamour magazines for photographers and editors for who to write!

KatiexMarie wrote: me? You look HOT all greased up!! Very nice! Do more glam?!?! I think you'd KILL it! You are beautiful and sexy in a way that I really dig. Gorgeous beauty headshot. This tame avitar you're using doesn't lead people to believe they will find such a beauty in your portfolio. Commercial work is good to have but often gets you less views as an avi. Just a fact.

Plus one for that! I think you are very pretty, you don't need a lot of makeup and you are an all natural beauty. I think you should test more and bring the book up to your level of looks.

You have a lot to offer and to be honest you will not get where you want to go without overhauling your port. Do it... it will take you places. Do some book development. You are a wide eyed beauty and it would be such a waste for you to not pursue fashion editorials.
