Brother Dave had it right: "Man may not live by bread alone ... He must have peanut butter."

And MM cannot live by nudes alone, but that's only because Google won't let us use nude avatars.

Otherwise, why would a site that has NEVER been a fashion site need to feature clothes? It's mayhem. Madness. And this thread proves it.

What I have noticed over the years is a tremedous amount of nudes!! What's the facination with nudes? As a model I would be very skeptical to pick a photographer from this site.

Honestly, some of the best photographers on here has fashion in their portfolios' headshoots and some covered nudes.

I personally shoot lots of nudes, fine art style and glamour style, but my basic principal is to approach every subject like it was a loaf of bread and create an awesome image of it. Using light, poses, angels and perspective, and I'm only staisfied with my nudes if it shows nothing, My goal is to make the viewer start their imagination, to to give the whole farm away up front.

Probaby because the "tremendous amount of nudes" is what most people with an internet connection would rather look at compared to fashion photographs.  I'd rather look at the fashion/beauty/catalog stuff over glam/nudes but I don't represent the predominant demographic online.

... that said, I'm not sure why you'd be "skeptic" about photographers on MM, unless you were oblivious to the dominant subject matter on this (and most other internet modeling sites); it isn't filled with editorial matter because (as a reasonable adult or model looking to immerse in editorial work would know better) this isn't a site predicated on such from the beginning!

I'm a bit "skeptical" of your ability to reason wink

I find some of the nudes (implied/glamour/artistic) quite pleasant, on the other hand I find pornographic nudes distasteful.
There has been more showing up (since I've been a memeber, so not long.) over the last few months because some people like them. Personally I like nudes and love the different textures and curves of the human body.

Although like yourself I prefer the implied side of nudes (and so do a lot of the people I network with) not everyone wants tasteful, covered up photo. Sometimes models are just as beautiful completely nude and stood strong.

I believe that some people on MM agree with 'M.H.O' and that's why nudes of all types are begining to appear more often.

Just my two cents smile

Interesting.  I'm only satisfied with my nudes if I, the client / model, or ideally both, like it.  In a different sense, I'm rarely satisfied, since I'm always thinking of what I could have done better.

And, for what it's worth, a lot of models "pick" me BECAUSE I shoot nudes.

Not me. Women look all funny when they are nekkid. They have bumps where they're not supposed to and they're missin' stuff.

I won't belabor what many others have said.  However, the following is from page 1 of the "fine art" section of your website:

Art is determine by an individuals mind, it's in the eye of the beholder and can not be defined.

There's something I call a "Mayhem Shot."

It's basically a Glamour shot, with a lot of flesh.

If you're uncomfortable with that...

you may be on the wrong site.

Why all the nudes?

1, people like attractive people nude

2 Models on MM make more money doing nudes

3 Petit models are on a level playing field with their taller competition when there are no clothes (or not much) and no runway.

As I recall, it's somewhere between 8 and 10% that are "M".  Not all would be nudes, although I'm sure it's the vast majority.  Of course "nudes with everything hidden, which the OP seems to approve of, wouldn't need an "M" and so wouldn't be counted.

Why waste any mental energy worrying about what other people do?   If it doesn't affect you, STFU and GBTW.

The world would be a much better place if people spent more time taking care of business and less time sticking their noses into other people's business.

Some one tracked the number of nudes on here - its less than 10%

I have tracked nude vs non-nude views in both my port and others.

go look at new model #2439069 and see what people are looking at.

Guess what gets the most views.

This might've been a constructive discussion had it it not been for the holier-than-thou attitude. As it is, the discussion as OP has presented it is pointless and he's opened himself up to merciless mockery and criticism.

Sounds like the pot is calling the kettle blacque. Your reasoning doesn't even make sense. You sound like a total hypocrite. You acknowledge that you shoot "tons of nudes," yet you're bashing on everyone else who shoots nudes and saying they aren't creative because you can see the person naked. I mean, seriously, what kind of response to you really expect from such idiotic nonsense? I'm not even going to dignify such an ignorant post with a serious answer. Sounds to me like you're just trying to start shit to get a reaction out of everyone. Lame.

Your right, there aren't that many nudes on here.

But if you count discussions of, it's a bit higher, like 20%.

Casting calls, 25%.

Unsolicited requests for nudes, 90% (or maybe I'm just in demand? O.o)

I hope I'm misinterpreting your post, but it sounds to me like you don't approve of pictures of nude models, only of models getting naked for you so you can look at their private parts while posing them, but are uncomfortable in showing them in your pictures.

Sort of like an eight year old taunting his smaller sibling "Nyah, nyah, nyah!  I've got a cookie and you don't!" or like a politician pounding on the theme of moral values while avoiding them at every turn himself.

As I say, I really do hope I'm misinterpreting,  Just in case that's so and in answer to your question, the human body is at the same time the simplest and the most complex subject we can shoot.  It has been the object of every artistic style from the sacred to the profane since the first cave drawings.  The fascination is hardly unique to Model Mayhem.

The world of fashion, even including advertising and catalog, on the other hand, occupies only a small part of the artistic output of this age, and an even smaller part of the artistic output of the ages.

As to the quality of the work, well, many are called but few are chosen, and 'twas ever thus.

All IMHO, as always.

Edit:  Just for the heck of it, I just looked over my 3 MM pages.
---------------------------------------------
Total pictures
including  Avatars                       62
Fully Nude including
Topless.                          18
Implieds                          20
Total Nudes                              38

Full Frontal                                 1
---------------------------------------------
And I consider myself to be primarily a nude photographer!  I suspect that most of us would find similar statistics.  Hardly the raging cesspool of depravity the OP envisions.

perhaps the OP meant to examine the difference between sensual images, and sexual images. That line is drawn differently to all of us, but the tone was BS. I see quite a few good sensual images on MM.

Oh boy, am I in trouble! My percentage is much higher. And I even have a naked man!!  Horrors!  I will promptly turn myself in to my local police department.

Oh, I shoot nudes because they are artistic whereas, in my worthless opinion, clothed models are not artistic. But what do I know?

Ouch, I can feel the handcuffs being slipped on now.  Please send money for bail, but for this great offense bailing out may not be allowed!

So, according to you, if a photographer has a lot of nudes in his port, that means he cannot have respect for the models he is working with? Can you explain why please?
