Legendary MM Photographers
I'm sure this has been asked a million times but I've only been on here a few days. Who are the Legendary photographers here on Model Mayhem? PS.. I know your probably a legend but you can't vote for yourself. Feb 10 13 06:44 am Link Feb 10 13 07:05 am Link Me too! Feb 10 13 07:14 am Link I don't think anyone is legendary - as I interpret that word - but in the category of "very, very good and whose presence we are very fortunate to have on these boards" I would list Ken Marcus and Fred Greissing. I'm sure there are a few more. Of course most of the people mentioned are going to be people who post. Those who don't post and are very, very good are probably unknown to most people, or at least their presence on this site is unknown. Feb 10 13 07:20 am Link Legend as in having truly solid work or being popular? Delani Jade wrote: I'm lousy at the popularity game, so regardless of how good my work might be, I will probably remain under the radar. Feb 10 13 07:22 am Link Ken, Fred and Stephen Feb 10 13 07:34 am Link AVD AlphaDuctions wrote: Stephen who? Feb 10 13 07:52 am Link Delani Jade wrote: Stephen Eastwood I assume. Feb 10 13 08:10 am Link MiGel wrote: Can you provide a link to his work here on MM? Feb 10 13 08:35 am Link Feb 10 13 08:36 am Link Delani Jade wrote: he has a few different profiles on here. I can`t remember which one is which. http://www.stepheneastwood.com/ Feb 10 13 09:21 am Link Feb 10 13 09:37 am Link ME_ wrote: Ditto above, I'd add Jose Manuel de Caso, Neil Snape, Sylvie Blum, Ben Kanarek, Herman Van Gestel, Rene de Haan. There are some others on my list I like. Feb 10 13 10:18 am Link AVD AlphaDuctions wrote: I love Stephen, he's a personal friend, but I wouldn't consider him "legendary" in a real sense. Fred is amazing, but same thing. Ken actually is. Or do you mean just legendary, here? Feb 10 13 10:26 am Link If this was based on Back to the Future, then me of course! Feb 10 13 10:26 am Link It' hard to say just a few. I discover more incredible creative extraordiniares when I browse thru here everyday. Feb 10 13 10:27 am Link Paramour Productions wrote: Personal friend? I guess Stephen won't be inviting you over for dinner anytime soon? Feb 10 13 10:29 am Link Chuckarelei wrote: Depending on the criteria, he would say the exact same thing. Feb 10 13 10:30 am Link Delani Jade wrote: Terry Richardson. Feb 10 13 10:31 am Link Mark Laubenheimer is well known for his basic simple natural light work, one of the best in that genre. https://www.modelmayhem.com/361136 Feb 10 13 10:32 am Link .... and then... there was MikeyBoy ..... Feb 10 13 10:33 am Link Feb 10 13 10:38 am Link There are several other famous photographers here under other names to keep from attracting too much attention. There were more but many left over the years. As for legend status that is a very small group of living photographers, much like other art forms it's not until well after the time has past that we feel the influence they had. Feb 10 13 10:43 am Link Mr. Voltaire comes to mind. Feb 10 13 10:51 am Link neil snape Feb 10 13 10:59 am Link Paramour Productions wrote: True this. Feb 10 13 11:31 am Link Mark Laubenheimer wrote: If he is - he's keeping a pretty low profile, considering some of the forum threads about him. Feb 10 13 11:36 am Link Mark Laubenheimer wrote: Isn't he like Tyler's dad or something?.:-))))) Feb 10 13 11:38 am Link Had to add an extra person Feb 10 13 11:44 am Link Lithium Picnic, TH Taylor, Nikki Sixx, Cherrystone. Feb 10 13 11:44 am Link I think "legendary" is a pretty difficult standard to meet, and I really can't think of anyone on MM (at least that I'm aware of) who I would match up with that label. There are some pretty famous, well-respected, and/or commercially successful photogrpahers on MM. Ken Marcus and Jerry Avenaim are the initial ones who come to mind for me, although for different reasons. AJScalzitti wrote: I definitely agree with both these points. A lot of big names have left here over the last 8 years, for one reason or another, and most legends generally aren't recognized as such by their contemporaries. Feb 10 13 11:46 am Link I can't really think of any living photographers I'd call "legendary" - and few dead ones. Although some have taken legendary pictures. Feb 10 13 11:49 am Link Do you mean true professionals or legends in their own mind?!? Sadly most of the legends are no longer here or have been run off.... Roger Talley, Bob Randall, Steven Eastwood, Click Hamilton and OGR come to mind... I think Mary Duprie and Sean Armenta are few and far between on here as well now days.... https://www.modelmayhem.com/142234 https://www.modelmayhem.com/3677 As for best of the best...my vote is for John Farrar https://www.modelmayhem.com/680246 Now there are also many great and very talented photographers on here as well....way too many to list. Feb 10 13 11:50 am Link Totally in love with Neil Snape's work! Feb 10 13 11:51 am Link dcsmooth wrote: aww. thanks. Feb 10 13 12:00 pm Link None are "legendary". I consider Avedon legendary, no one on here comes close. There are a few well known photographers though, some mentioned, another being Todd Hido. https://www.modelmayhem.com/16104 Feb 10 13 12:30 pm Link Not sure if "Legendary" is a term that I would use. But I think that Mr. Phillip Ritchie is an amazingly talented artist and super nice person: https://www.modelmayhem.com/43582 Feb 10 13 12:43 pm Link Paramour Productions wrote: His name was Richard... damn, I can't remember. What was his last name?
