I might consider doing it once, to see what it's like.  Other than that, I've no interest.  The money may be good, but I didn't get into photography to shoot porn.  I did it to shoot ART, even if I'm not that great at it. smile

Short answer, yes I would.  I suppose I'd act in it, too.  "Act" being a term thrown around loosely, of course.

Just because you're sophisticated doesn't mean it's not porn! Actually, it's even more porn!

I would and have,I worked in the music industry most of my life and was fortunate to meet some of the early porn stars including Barbara Dare ,Ginger Lynn and several others in LA while doing shows who were very nice people.

I have shot several models who are on the southern charms fetish websites and 2 who are on webcam sites that make quite a good amount of money doing it. One girl was sort of afraid to ask me to shoot the photos as she is a dominatrix and was worried about what I would think of her.

As a photographer it doesn't really matter what the subject is.

You pay I shoot.

+1 although it will not be displayed in anything related back to me or my business unless I change my business to shoot porn exclusively.

Does it go against your morals? Would it take too much of your artistic expression out of photography? Family reasons? Already successful in commerical or fashion?

If the money was good then yeah why not shoot it?

When you shoot male models the lines are often pretty blurred.

Often tasteful nudes are still used as jerk off material by your average gay male. I'm not so sure that it makes it porn.... but it's still being used as porn.

But lets face it, men will jerk off to just about anything.

In summary, yes I'd shoot porn.... and I also think many of you straight guys are already shooting it... you just call it 'Glamour Photography'.

No not really
Some of it is fine art
Some of it is pin up (playboy style, bikini)
Then there is fashion nude, which can look like fine art nudes...
But real glamour is fashion.
Only on Model mayhem glamour is considered bikini, pin up etc...
Thierry Mugler, Versace and other designers consider there style glamour/glamourous

To some  (I guess fashion photographers on MM) Think Glamour is a bad word (oh, I could never shoot glamour). (ridiculous ego)
Fashion designers praise it, Thierry Mugler even has a book Galaxy Glamour.
I love Galmour...

Porn is becoming main stream.
Jenna Jameson I think was on the Hollywood Christmas parade (why?)

"Oh look grandpa its Jenna Jameson, look kids its our favorite porn star"

Before you do anything you should have a list of pros and cons...

To the OP, do it if you don't see anything morally wrong with it and your friends and family will support you. It is good money! But also, think about that fact that will you do this for the rest of your life? Will doing porn prohibit your future goal career or dreams? But hey, plenty of pornstars quit the business and now are making Hollywood films. Very hard for them to break into Hollywood, but I'm seeing that hopefully in the future people will be more open-minded and lenient. Goodluck!

Good points and excellent advice.

HELL NO! NO WAY, are you serious, how dare you ask creative professionals to sink so low as to capture images of something so vile! It's unnatural to want to see or participate in something so perverse and against the true purpose of the act.
Sex should be used for procreation only!

Porn can be described as such depending.

Conversely, some art can only be described as ugliness.  It all depends…

The whole concept of "pornography" is still quite young. Depictions of full nudity, including sexual acts have been around for thousands of years, often in public places. It was during the Victorian Era in the latter part of the 19th century when photography was coming into its own and actual nudity was seen and through the use "magic lanterns" where a series of still images could simulate moving that the first porn shorts were made. And it was a cultural decision that sexually stimulating images like these would affect the common people too much, so were suitable only for "gentlemen"...and most definitely not for ladies. It was at that point that "pornography" went under ground and came to be something dirty.

What is art? Velvet paintings are art just as canvas paintings are. The medium used doesn't matter. Art can definitely be ugly...sometimes intentionally. It can be shocking...it is intended to emote a response from the viewer and that emotion can differ from one person to the next.

What is acceptable? Network TV shows heads split open, bodies eviscerated, women being tortured but a nude love scene has to be shown after 11pm when the impressionable kids have gone to bed.

smile When I heard people actually believed that I immediately wondered if they would consider it a sin to have sex if you knew you were sterile. Or once a women passed menopause. Once you can't have children, there is no reason to have sex! smile

2 of my photography friends went into porno, thinking they would make million$$.

They finally gave up after a year, as there were so many photographers doing it, that they couldn't make enough money to cover their costs.  And the models they ended up having to use, let's just say they were professionals, but not in modeling.

Now they are making a good living doing family portrait$$.  Who would have thought?

It would depend on exactly what was asked of me. If it were something like a cam girl wanting pictures done for her website. Meaning toys and whatnot, I'd do it. If it was straight up porn then no I probably wouldn't be interested unless the pay was high enough. In which case I wouldn't want any credits or anything else.

Just picture a soccer mom going on google and looking for your name. And she see's images of sex. Probably lost a client.

I don't consider porn artistic at all.  It's the same poses with "Saturate the Grid" lighting.  I would also be too afraid to alienate my "traditional" clients.

Damn, the stuff has been wildly oversold to me. I thought it would include, ahem, more interesting poses.

Nice port though.

Nope..not interested in it in the least but business is business.

Also, there is limited money in it from a professional standpoint. Every GWC churns out that drivel these days.

Just a camera. There's very little "art" to it.
