I CREATED THIS THREAD AS A RESOURCE FOR EVERYBODY. THERE IS A WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE, READILY AT YOUR FINGERTIPS. BEFORE YOU POST, SEE IF IT'S ALREADY BEEN POSTED
***Contributions of links and information are welcome, however, let's keep this thread informative and on track, so we don't have to lock it up to preserve it.***
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE SUGGESTIONS OR DISCUSS THE FAQ THREAD, PLEASE GO TO THE FAQ DISCUSSION THREAD. WE WANT THIS TO BE EASY TO NAVIGATE AND NOT HAVE IT GET OFF TRACK.
THE STYLIST FORUM FAQ DISCUSSION THREAD: comments, questions, complaints about the FAQs go here:
I understand that there are a lot of newer members to the site that might not entirely understand or know how to use the search function, which is fine.
So this thread is for us to post links to topics that have already been discussed (i am not talking about once or twice... I am talking NUMEROUS times).
So if you are looking for threads on things like:
- Basic product recommendations (foundation, brushes, mascara, etc...)
-MUA/Stylist/Hair Stylist wants from TFP
- the MAC boycott
- advice
-how much should i charge
- artist discounts
etc..
and so on, look here first (and please contribute links if you have them).
The links do not have to be all from MM if you have a website or link that you think is exceptionally usefull, but this is just a general FAQ, to help us not to have to answer the same question 10 times and to help the people who ask the questions not to get reamed for asking the same question over and over again.
1st Hold Website has a million great resources for MUAs/Stylists/Hair Stylists about starting, maintaining and being sucessful at your careers: http://www.makeuphairandstyling.com
Make-up 411: beauty breakdowns for celebrities, music videos, characters, shows, etc.. also has info on new products and kit favorites: http://www.makeup411.com

Certain rules of unspoken etiquette are recommended to be followed when using Internet forums. They include:
* Contributors should avoid the use of all CAPITAL LETTERS in posts. ALL CAPS is considered "shouting" and causes readability issues.
* Contributors should avoid capitalizing the first letter of every word in posts. Capitalizing every word causes readability issues, especially in large paragraphs.
* One should read all the rules and guidelines established by the community. Some communities may have different regulations on a particular subject. * One should always be courteous to other forum members.
* Before creating a new topic thread, one is advised to search to see if a similar topic already exists. * Contributors should follow standard grammar and spelling rules and avoid slang. Leetspeak and SMS-style shorthand are prohibited or frowned upon in some communities.
* If the forum is categorized, one should strive to post in the correct section.
* When making a technical inquiry, one should include as much technical information as possible, especially in the subject line. * Contributors are asked to stay on-topic.
* Contributors should avoid double posting and Crossposting.
* To avoid appearing self-absorbed, one should respond to topics started by others more often than starting topics of one's own.
* One is advised not to resurrect a very old topic if nothing significant will be added. This practice is known as revival, bumping or Necroing.
* One should try to refrain from lashing back at a poorly behaving member or participating in a flame war; instead, notify the messageboard's staff of the event. * When quoting a previous post, one should only include the relevant portion of that post. Contributors are requested to keep in mind that their audience can likely still see the message they are quoting on the same screen and can read it again if need be.

You are absolutely fantastic, the fact that you took your own time to do this. I just want to tell you that your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Best regards,

any hairstylists or wardrobe stylists that would like to contribute, please do! I just do make-up, so all the website I know of are mostly make-up related.
Dear Rachelrose,
I just wanted to thank you for taking so much time to do this. I have found many answers to questions I had and I know it took you a long time to do this.

From the list of lists above some threads that relate to this section.
For photographers who want to learn makeup and styling for emergencies or just for a quick shoot.
Learning about makeup, styling (good answers so far from photographers in the photography section)

Two more lists posted at the same time. Most are directed towards models or photographers but the logic will translate. Rachelrose listed some threads above. Check those first but here are the lists on charging.
Are you a makeup artist, hair stylist, or stylist and want a critique?
Then post in the critique section but you can post a link to the critique section in the thread below.
If you've already plunked down money for classes, either in NJ or out of state, do whatever you can to get a refund. If you paid by credit card, go straight to them to do a chargeback, if you are still within your allotted time to do that per your bank's rules.
If you've already had issues with them, report them to the BBB. Sometimes it works to get your refund. Sometimes, not. If you cannot get anywhere, go to the NJ District Attorney on charges of fraud.
And if you are being harassed in any way - by email or phone calls - call your local police department if you are near them, or the FBI if it crosses state lines.
If you think I'm kidding, read the thread. That is only the tip of the iceberg.
Whatever you do, do NOT waste your money on this "school".
